Not quite up with yesterday's bountiful outing, some pics from which are posted in the Sigma 150-600mm thread, but a few of my friends still showed up . . .

including an unusually stealthy visit from a Common Flameback Woodpecker . . .

 . . . and finally!  First tiny Common Kingfisher I've seen in a while . . .

 . . . and a Yellow-Barred Flutterer, for once not fluttering . . .

Wonderful Rob, that Woodpecker is a beautiful bird.

Every time I see an image of a Kingfisher I have a foot stomp moment😊 - I have never managed to photograph one.  Many times I've seen a little blue streak dart by, and often while walking along the river bank been asked by other walkers if I have been photographing the one they have were watching for five minutes🤨

Thank you, Jayne.  I was lucky to get the woodpecker without backlight or harsh sunlight, thus good saturation.

Similar experience here with trying to approach one for a photo, more times than I can count.  But if you visit a kingfisher's turf regularly so that he comes to realize you're not a predator, he/she may eventually become a bit more trusting.

And to keep my post "legal," one from my faithful friend, Mr. Red-Whiskered Bulbul, who visited me again today . . .

I certainly do love it! I think being on the shoreline of a major lake gives it changeable weather and interesting skies which add a little emotion to any shot. I also make a habit of going out there most days, so I’m in a better position to capture what’s there.

Visiting art galleries with 18-56 that I believe is a superb lens despite some not so good reviews.

Connections to Russia: My dearest wife was a PHD Candidate in Medieval Russian History  at The University of Chicago back in the olden days. She also traveled to Russia many times and spoke Russian fluently.  My youngest daughter spent her freshman year of University at Moscow State University before moving on to McGill University  in Montreal, Canada. I only traveled to Russia once and in my weakness collected a few souvenirs. These are some of my favorites.       18-56
