And we have flowers in the hedge (occasionally they are fragrant).

That's the crop for today.  Higher res versions in dpreview.  Those flowers are about an inch across.

My son has bluebells in his front yard but we're stuck on the other side of the planet.  So we have wild grass...

I agree. Probably not a travel lens. But stunning performance on a tripod.

I managed without a tripod, though I had to keep the shutter speed (and sometimes the ISO) high.

Who cares! Lockdown obviously has its (photographical) merits! Well done.

Jayne, pick a quiet spot and settle down with an apperitive of choice. Listen. Be aware. Note the occasional visitors to your garden, particularly seasonal migrants. Note their flight paths. Photolog the occasional visitors. Just enjoy the quiet tempo of life in a quiet corner of your garden.

Yesterday, I spotted a pair of Yellow Tip butterflies flitting from one plant of interest to another, before embarking on a flirtatious dance, too challenging for my current skills to capture. But that did not dilute the pleasure of witnessing their fleeting visit to a quiet corner of the garden. I then spotted emerging lilac blooms, a subject much more within my photographic skills. So my short interlude was not entirely a photographic failure, as I had my trusty X Vario in hand.

Think not about the frustrations of non-travel. Relax and discover the secrets of nature, just beyond our doorsteps, which normally go unobserved. This has to be a subject for a photo book.

Stay safe.

Very true words David, and I totally concur.  Your comments made me chuckle, especially about the Aperitvo, as I seem to be doing that most days lately😄.  In fact yesterday afternoon after having heard that even our staycation cottage booking in Devon for first week in June is now cancelled due to lockdown, I mixed myself an Aperol Spritz and did as you said.  There will probably be a photo in the M forum appearing at some point today as I photographed it and tried to imagine a time when it will be possible to sit waterside in Venice to have said drink again.  Seems almost impossible to imagine when that might be.

At least I have my naked gardener to entertain me and I do (believe me) count my blessings in my surroundings and current health, honestly I have nothing to complain about.  I already have numerous photo books of my home area and garden, dogs, pets, nature etc but you may be right, maybe we should all try to record Lockdown photobooks.

My other half  has always said my song is Top of the World (The Carpenters) because when I have my camera in hand, "there is wonder in most everything I see'" - maybe that's what I will title my next photo book.

Anyway David hope you keep well and safe too, thanks again for your words.
