Jelly Fish in the Monterey Aquarium with the 55-135. First, pretty much out of camera; then converted to B&W with a few modifications in PS, just for fun.

I haven't posted any photos lately!  I should remember that photos are taken to share.

Cracking shot. I wonder what this would look like in black and white? It feels muscular so might be an interesting alternative.

Your wish is my command...A straight forward conversion, no fiddling.

I prefer the colour shot.

Think I prefer the b&w version.  As with many of my CL shots I find the green/yellow channel a bit too strong - may just be me, or my screen but I often find myself pulling back the greens.

Anyhow why we are in Wales, lol, thought I would share these two.  Every time I drive past this spot I think how amazing the setting is for the 100 or so pupils that attend this amazing little school (rooftop).  Caused a bit of a ruckus at the time because it replaced four small schools in villages surrounding it.  Called Ysgol Craig y Deryn, (Birds Rock School), names after the dramatic landscape in which it sits.  CL - Pan 24-105

I do prefer the B&W version, but then again I prefer B&W over color. I have my EVF set to HC B&W so tend to think that way.  Both obviously work well as the shot itself is beautifully composed and you really capture the sense of design of the bridge, so the choice is really your preference.

JB--I like all your photos, but a big shoutout especially for these two: slightly high grain and not especially sharply focused. In other words, failing the technical test of absolute digital sharpness and clarity. But who cares? they capture emotion far better the way you rendered them. Thanks.

I know Bill Frisell. Not personally, but I have a couple of albums. Vinyl to be exact. Haven't heard that name in over 30 years.

@bags27 what exactly is a "filmic" feel? I'd like a bit more discussion about this here, especially with the CL. Does that mean grainy? Lack of detail? What?

We, as a society, have rushed forward with a bigger sensor, more megapixels, better processors, etc. More tech. Digital tech. I saw a google camera last fall that had something like 7 lenses. Not great lenses, obviously, but seven. You can focus after the fact. You can create whatever bokeh you want. And more.

Yet we still long for the "filmic" feel. And now we "recreate" it with software and sliders on your tablet.  I realize all have different applications. . .

I don't decry the digital revolution, I just think we got a bit ahead of ourselves.

end rant/

Again.

I promise to stop doing this. 😀

No big deal 🤷‍♂️

In which case Jayne,  why not save a processing profile named "CL Correct greens" and apply it routinely at download or by batch when starting processing. I assume you routinely recalibrate your monitor?

Yes, you are quite right of course.  I do recalibrate my monitors (desktop and laptops) or at least my daughter does it for me, but as yet have not got into making my own pre-sets, just too lazy to learn I guess, and have just got used to quickly moving those sliders to where I judge it right for my eyes, I rarely venture out of Lightroom classic.  I keep telling myself I need to learn more about processing but think it may well have to be in another life😉.
