I assume that's colour fringing?  Is this a severe crop :-)?

Not especially severe. Taken with equivalent 400 mm at about 20 feet. I can't explain the fringing. It doesn't seem to appear on the jpeg before I uploaded it.

Have you tried importing the RAW file into another imaging processor like Capture One or GIMP etc to see if it is the image editor that causes it...

Yet another rainy day spent watching the birds through my kitchen window.  Very young Jay, unusual for one of these to hang around long enough to get a shot.  CL with Canon 200m 2.8, can't believe I haven't tried this one before now.
