geotrupede Posted August 6, 2022 Share #1 Posted August 6, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) After initial shock I am becoming addicted to the new M11 features. in fact i am considering getting rid of all earlier iterations... Things that work include the super batter, dynamic range, relatively low noise, the burst, the 18MP dng, the finish and weight. things that do not work great: startup time and wake from sleep. the battery can be squashed in when holding the camera, which is not a good grip as with a rigid bottom plate; the live view coming up here and there unintentionally. and the new stuff.. auto iso is a new option for me, flash works and coming from momo, I now have colours 😉 mono conversion are ok-ish except in the usual super saturated scenario and skin tones. anyway, to all, enjoy the M11! Advertisement Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 Hi geotrupede, Take a look here the first week. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
geotrupede Posted August 6, 2022 Author Share #2 Posted August 6, 2022 BTW - I found a sort of bug. as I have disabled the live view from all buttons the only way to get it up is to click in the menu LV to the left. OR when in review mode, looking at images, to swipe vertically. this closes the review mode and brings up the LV. I think this is a bug as the capture mode should be the last one used, and if so it would be rather useful feature to swipe up and get the m11 ready again, which one can also do by pressing the shutter. in any case, having disabled all buttons, when LV comes up means to go back to menu, press LV and then shutter, which adds to the 2.5 seconds 😉 would be fab to rectify G>
jakontil Posted August 6, 2022 Share #3 Posted August 6, 2022 nice and thanks for sharing the great photos and i concur about the Lv button, i thought i found it a bit finicky when disabling all buttons too.. i even tried to activate only the crop mode to activate the lv anyhow, im quite an old fashioned shooter which need only the ios, apature ring and the dial speed so not really bugged
geotrupede Posted August 6, 2022 Author Share #4 Posted August 6, 2022 another thing came out today, pressing the rear wheel by mistake brought up the live view! but I did not map it for that... it happened once, super odd. I think some of the buttons may forget what they are for and do other things now and then... would explain the random LV coming up G>

Ktsa5239 Posted August 7, 2022 Share #6 Posted August 7, 2022 My dial button controls exposure compensation so when I click it the LV do come on for you to set EV. It’s the same on SL2 and Q. Maybe you have set the display to extended hence LV comes up when you change settings for certain things?

geotrupede Posted August 7, 2022 Author Share #8 Posted August 7, 2022 thanks all maybe it was a glitch as did not happen again, BUT will check about 'extended' maybe it is something there. the lens, it is the miyazaki 28mm f 2, but the aperture is always around 11 with flash, so really it could be anything else. I like it as it is VERY small and light. The 28 f2.8 leica is slightly bigger, advantage there is that the aperture has clear steps, but that is always on the MM1... timo01 Posted August 7, 2022 Share #9 Posted August 7, 2022 Never heard of the lens ^^ Do you like it?

tangosix Posted August 7, 2022 Share #11 Posted August 7, 2022 My first week was full of jaw dropping moments. I wanted a different look - in colors and moodiness - and I got it in spades. I am wrestling with ISO in regard to richness. Everyone coming from an earlier M thinks that I should crank ISO up and ... I don't think that it is so critical with the m11. It's a beast. My first impressions are that I have something special in my hands, this process surprises me every day and that gives me inspiration to get out there and create.
