Capuccino-Muffin Posted August 18, 2022 Share #41  Posted August 18, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I’ve had one custome made for me, with the measurements taken from that video. Ask any machining shop near you. My first summicron had the wobbling, and my second one also. This tool is worth gold.
Advertisement Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Hi Capuccino-Muffin, Take a look here Wobbly M Elmarit 28mm f2.8 problem. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wolfloid Posted October 21, 2023 Share #42  Posted October 21, 2023 Just to add information to the site - my 28mm f2.8 Elmarit version II, bought from Red Dot in London in Mint condition 2 years ago has just developed quite a severe wobble. It was sudden and it has not been dropped or banged in any way - it is also carried, well protected, in a Billingham bag. It cannot have been loosened by torque from mounting and dismounting with the hood, as I don’t use the hood - just the slide on lens cap. Reading through the thread, and discounting the speculation about the hood, it seems to be a design or assembly fault. I live in Germany, so I’ll just have to find someone here to repair it - I don’t want to be gouged by Leica.
wolfloid Posted October 21, 2023 Share #43  Posted October 21, 2023 Yes, I agree, in the video it looks like an easy 5 minute repair, and to have the tool would be great. I’m not sure about machining shops here in Frankfurt - any advice? I’d happily buy the tool if it were available.
Fred Miranda Posted October 21, 2023 Share #44  Posted October 21, 2023 Leica charges $400 to tighen that ring, but you can do it yourself using a medicine bottle and some putty. My Leica 28/2 Cron (v2) had a problem with the front group wobbling because of the loose ring, and I fixed it in just 1 minute. If you prefer not to use a pill bottle, you can also use two paper clips to tighten it. You can see that DIY bottle here on Yuri's review: https://www.yukosteel.com/2023/04/disassembly-voigtlander-35mm-f14-nokton.html Welcome, dear visitor! wolfloid Posted October 22, 2023 Share #45  Posted October 22, 2023 Thanks for your reply Fred.  I just slightly bent out a pair of tweezers, which then fitted into the two recesses and tightened up the obviously loose retaining ring (the retaining ring on the Elmarit is much smaller in diameter than the Summicron). It seems to have done the job, and the lens is now tight. Why it came loose in the first place, I have no idea, but now I can easily retighten it. Cost €0.

ajz Posted June 25, 2024 Share #47  Posted June 25, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry, I don't always follow the Leica Forum...if you are still here: Camera Solutions is the place I have used for almost a decade. They clean cameras, lenses, sensors really well; they have tightened my old 21mm super angulon and a much newer 28mm as described above. ajz@zelada.com June 25 2024 (503) 452-3907 Call phone (+15034523907) 6401 SW Macadam Ave Portland, OR 97239
