THIS THREAD IS NOW CLOSED.

Sadly the end of the month has come around again and the 167th Barnack's Monthly thread has to close but which was filled with a wonderful array of more than 2,300 pictures and interpretations of this month's topic which is a new record!

Thank you to everyone who helped make August 2022's Barnack's Monthly another success by either posting, thanking, or just looking and I hope you enjoyed doing it and will do so again. A special thank you to those who posted for the first time in the thread and, if you did, please post more because we'd love to see your pictures!

The theme for Barnack's Monthly for September 2022 is: Arch and you can find it at this link.

I really do hope you will follow the link and post some of your pictures.

Thank you all again and see you in the new thread!

Pete.

Oh, excuse me, please. Of course we are in the international part of the forum. What I wanted to explain: this Do-24 flying boat, designed by Dornier in Friedrichshafen/Bodensee in the mid 1930s, built by manufacturing companies in Germany, the Netherlands and France in total 313 units, was used mainly as an off shore rescue flying boat by the Seenotdienst der Luftwaffe and later served in the same purpose in Spain and France until the 1970s. 12800 people were saved with this aircraft from distress at sea. Over 5000 of those were British, American or other Nations soldiers during the WWII. I feel a bit sad that so many fighter aircrafts survived and can be flown and shown until today but this flying boat, which saved so many lives has only three survivors and only one can still be flown after two times complete overhaul.
