IMO, the M10-R is the last real M.

As a newcomer to Leica, one of the reasons I chose it was Leica seemed to be more interested in making a fantastic camera that used their lens system and less concerned about “being an M”. I think for a lot of you, that might be a downside, but I wonder how many people like me will be “Ok, that sounds pretty great”.

I will sell my M10-r and just use the M11. Not because it is that much better, but 1) I only want to carry one camera 2) I dont want to switch back and forth between slightly different sensor character and handling 3) the M10-r is too good camera to collect dust, it should come in hands where it gets used

Actually it was the M3 😇

Actually it was the M11. Truly the last real M. Until the next one comes out.

I was a Contax G9 shooter. I didn't really like the M9, didn't like the M240. I missed out on the M10 due to cataracts, then had surgery. The M10-R was a complete delight during COVID. It's gone to another photographer who will use it for family photos. I'm using the M11 for museum quality work (yes I've been in museums you've heard of before so I don't say that idly) and given that there is a definite trend toward large format printing (take a look at the ICP shows), it's great to have those extra megapixels. And yes, the old baseplate was unnecessary. And of course I'm keeping my M10M for now.

Not sure what you mean by “museum quality work” but I agree, the M11 is not only a delight to use, it’s a “real” M. Did you by any chance see Salgado at ICP? Those prints were stunning!

I am a leica enthusiast and own a M11 besides M10M,M9,M6,M6 TTL,Q2,SL2;I traded in M10 and SL1 when with purchase of M11. . I will stream line this collection, further as aging set in a to only 2 cameras.

Oh i forgot about multiple hasselblad bodies,mamiya7,contax ,canon and nikon bodies and lenses. life long passion and hoarding.--cognitive impairment I suspect,

IMHO, keep your M10-R.  Having a back up camera body is a good idea.

I have an SL2 and the M lens adapter, so I consider this my back up camera.

Thanks.
