All;

I have a Leica SL2-S with the Leica R to L Adapter. I have a few Leica R 3 Cam lenses.

What features are available with the 3 Cam lenses?

For example: I have a 100 F/2.8 Elmarit APO Macro lens mounted

I set the lens profile for R Lenses and selected the exact lens profile that matches my lens

Focus Peaking is enabled on User Profile 1 and Focus Peaking works fine

It was my understanding that I can use Aperture Priority or fully manual for metering. What other options or features are available when the R to L Adapter is installed and I'm using a 3 Cam R lens?

Thanks

Lens profiles must be manually set with non-ROM lenses using the R-Adapter L since there are no electronics on the lens side.

Also, as far as I know, the only real feature enabled is IBIS when selecting the lens profile. R lenses do not get any additional optical corrections such as distortion or vignetting corrections like the M and L-mount lenses.

The R-Adapter L has only two advantages over the stacked M-adapter L + R-adapter M:

  1. If using ROM lenses, the camera can detect which lens and set the correct profile for the metadata
  2. Some of the longer R telephoto lens do not work well with the stacked M-adapter + R-adapter M as it’ll cause vignetting due to the narrow opening between the two stacked adapters
