Uneven Exposure on my M4?

Hi guys,

This is my first post on this forum.

I am a proud owner of M4. Recently I had developed a roll of Kodak Gold and I have found a line of uneven exposure on the top of the frame (left since it's portrait oriented), as shown in the attachment below.

I have read through a few post with the same issue. However, my picture was shot during an overcast weather, so I don't think there would be sunlight strong enough to have refraction like those.

 

Out of 34 shots in the roll of film, only this shot have this effect. The rest of the rolls are perfectly fine as shown in attachments.

I don't know whether is it a fluke, or it is a start of something bad, but I am not experienced enough to tell.

It would be most appreciated if someone could point out what it is, or is it something that I should be worried of?

Hi, seems like the problem i had too with my m2 which seemed to happen due to flare from the light being reflected within the chamber

So its not something to do with the shutter, nor the baffle issue, but the construction of the camera itself?

If it is something happened due to natural phenomenon and not because of camera faulty then it would be much more relief to hear that.

Hi VHao, for now u dont have to worry, i have seen such uneven exposure and at times we cant really replicate it

i have read from the forum somewhere, it even exhibits the digital body, there are some discussions and the similarity is quite pronounced

That first one of your looks like a shutter capping issue. It will be most apparent at 1/1000, at least at first. 
If it continues, you will probably want a technician to readjust the shutter for you.

I saw this graphy somewhere while searching in this forum with people posting similar issue.

But the other users that reported this issue have their pictures taken during a sunny day, while mine is shot under an overcast weather, so I don't know whether the light source is direct/strong enough to replicate such phenomenon.

I guess for now I will take it as natural phenomenon occasion as the rest of the roll did not exhibit uneven exposure.

Hi oldwino, the first picture is the problem that I would like to seek for help.

I rarely take pictures with 1/1000, I can't remember what settings was it taken at but it is either 1/250 or 1/500.

thanks arnaud for the links, was trying to search for 'em too and yes now i remember it was adan, and probably you can share some insights bout the problem being encountered here

hi Vhao, at least in my case, some happened in broad sunny daylight, and the other happened indoors, well at least as good as in overcast situation, but i saw quite the similarity but yes i might be wrong too

Hi Arnaud, thank you very much for the link. So do you think from the first picture I've posted it exhibited the same refraction explained by Adan?

Hi Jakontil, if this happened to you too in an overcast-like situation then at least it makes me a lot more assured that this happened not due to my camera being faulty. Thank you very much for your input!
