My SL APO lenses 35/50/90 all updated to lens firmware v 3.1

The update seemed to work for me via Fotos. One thing I seem to notice more of, however, is kind of clicking sounds when in AFs, more than I remember. I understand it will make noise when the shutter is half pressed and the lens focuses, what I am talking about is just holding the camera without touching the shutter button. It does not appear to be the aperture, as the aperture is not changing when the sound is made. The sound of the AF motor kicking in maybe? It sounds like is some sort of prefocus mechanism (this drove me nuts with the Panasonic S1 until I figured out how to turn it off), but I am not using iAF...I don't want the camera to make any noise at all until I press the shutter, so it is a bit annoying. I think it might have happened before, but I have not noticed it much. Now I guess I am giving focused attention to the lens behavior, so I noticed it. It does not happen at all in MF mode, thankfully, which is a mode I am in much of the time. The lens I was using was the 50mm APO summicron.

Anyway, just wondering if others feel like it is different.

With the scenario and setting you describe, I do hear movement in the camera or lens when holding the camera to my eye but only "if" I move the position of the camera Without pressing the shutter button. I've always heard noticed this very slight noise which to me sounds similar to lens elements movement, not clicking. No sure if it's the lens or the camera making the sound and if its the same as the clicking you describe.

Is a link available to download the firmware update? Fotos is not picking up the update for me.

I don't see it out there yet. Probably just a matter of time.

Couple of things to check:

Did you already update your camera SL2 to v4.0 or SL2/S to firmware v3.0 ? I believe this is a requirement for the Fotos App update feature

Your camera w/ with above firmware version should have already been paired and set up in the Fotos app and remain in the app for the new update message to appear

Do you have the latest Fotos App installed on your mobile phone? If not, uninstall and reinstall the Fotos app to make sure you have the latest version, then you will have to pair your camera again.

yes, i have 4.0 on the SL2, deleted then reinstalled Fotos. Nothing  from the app yet. I will leave it connected for a bit in case it needs a bit of time. Hopefully the firmware update will be available for download soon.

Successful update via Fotos app on iOS. Sent in a feature request to give a friendly reminder about saving Profile before update (or maybe even do it automatically through the app?). I got eager and missed it but luckily had a backup :)

Must say thank you team at Leica. They were friendly in the contact I had with them on this and update came out fast. I know from my previous job how difficult it can be to (detect bugs and) push out such updates in short time. Thanks also to everyone here who shared insights!

I agree.

Like they say, "shit happens" and it did with the previous firmware but Team Leica jumped right on it and put together a fix very quickly.  So far my initial testing looks good.

Thank you Leica 👍🏼

In my case, Fotos App only showed the update option after I had disconnected the camera in the app. Upon update, the app reconnected.
