There are plastic parts in the Canada-made 35/2 v4 so it is perhaps not a gift your husband is dreaming about. I'd expect more than 2,000 EUR for a German-made copy in good shape.

The one at Leica Store Miami mentioned earlier is the German model, serviced and 6-bit coded and, at $4,995 US (nuts), collector money for that lens.

The one plus is the seller; you know it’s probably about as good as one of those gets but the more recent 35mm f2 ASPH they also have, and also serviced, at $2,695, would make way more sense from a user stand-point.

I bought a 20+ year old 90mm Elmarit from Leica Store Miami that they had serviced (and 6-bit coded) at Leica and it was indistinguishable from new.  They've subsequently become my go-to seller when I'm looking for new or used Leica gear.  Not a lot of bargains there, but at least you know that you'll receive something that's in terrific condition and works as it should.
