sebben Posted May 7, 2022 Share #1 Posted May 7, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone tried using a 1TB SD card with the M10 series? The manual states up to 2TB is supported but when I put the card into the camera it doesn't take pictures when I press the shutter. It works with my 512GB card. I have tried formatting with the SD Card formatter. https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/ Any ideas?
Advertisement Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Hi sebben, Take a look here Leica M10D - 1TB SD card. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Flamboyant Posted May 7, 2022 Share #2 Posted May 7, 2022 Maybe your card is dead ? I had the same problem with a dead card but it was a 64Go, no pictures when I press the shutter. This may not be the answer you expected but if you try with another 1Tb card and it works, then it may be dead ^^
sebben Posted May 7, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted May 7, 2022 It is brand new and mounts on the computer, as stated I also formatted in the SD card formatter.
kgs Posted May 7, 2022 Share #4 Posted May 7, 2022 What happens when you format the card in the camera? This is allways the best method 1
sebben Posted May 8, 2022 Author Share #5 Posted May 8, 2022 When I try to format in the camera it says that there is an error. has anyone used a Sandisk 1TB as card?
frame-it Posted May 8, 2022 Share #6 Posted May 8, 2022 its possible the system cant address that much space, try it once in another brand of camera [if you have one] and check after formatting it in that camera

This is my card. I use it with the adapter obviously. The 512GB version works. Welcome, dear visitor! sebben Posted May 9, 2022 Author Share #11 Posted May 9, 2022 Don’t really see how it could be since the sandisk 512gb works fine and the 1TB card mounts on the computer. does anyone else use another 1TB card?
kgs Posted May 9, 2022 Share #12 Posted May 9, 2022 Sorry, but this is a 1TB microSD and you use it with adapter. Use a native 1TB SD card (SDHC, SDXC) and it will work probably.
sebben Posted May 9, 2022 Author Share #13 Posted May 9, 2022 There shouldn't be a difference between microSD and SDXC. My 512GB microSD card works. Have you used an SDXC 1TB card that works? Has anyone?
kgs Posted May 9, 2022 Share #14 Posted May 9, 2022 (edited) I don't use SD cards larger than 64 GB in my M10. I find 1TB overkill even in an M11. Apart from that, they slow down the system when the appropriate level is reached. I can store over 2000 DNG shots of my M10 on a 64 GB card, which is more than enough in my opinion. 1 TB cards are recommended for very high-resolution video recordings. sebben Posted May 9, 2022 Author Share #15 Posted May 9, 2022 Thats great for you, but I like to have my whole photo library on my card. This isn't a discussion about the merits of why someone would use a 1TB card or not. Rather does it even work? The manual states that up to 2TB is supported. IkarusJohn Posted May 9, 2022 Share #18 Posted May 9, 2022 (edited) Hi Sebben, I suspect you have too many things going on - very large storage, wrong format card for the camera and an adapter. Just because this set up works with a 512GB card doesn’t mean the same will work with 1TB. Remember the fuss with the M9 over which cards would work and which wouldn’t? I’m sure a fast 1 or 2 TB card from Sandisk, Panasonic or Lexar will be fine. Formatting cards was also an issue with the M9 - my recollection is that Leica resolved that issue in firmware, but I continue to format cards with SD Formatter. I think your problem is a large capacity card in the wrong format … Edited May 9, 2022 by IkarusJohn

sebben Posted May 9, 2022 Author Share #20 Posted May 9, 2022 (edited) Can’t really be wrong formatting though, as it’s just exfat. There is nothing wrong with using adapters. It’s an industry standard. Like stated multiple times I haven’t had any issues with the 512GB version. I will be returning the 1TB card but I would like to know if any one else has used a 1TB card successfully before buying another one. So far no one can even confirm that… Edited May 9, 2022 by sebben
