Good afternoon all,

Despite only having the M11 for a few weeks I already have some dust/dirt on the sensor.

I have the above kit. Has anyone used it kn the M11 sensor yet? If so, what are your impressions?

Thanks.

Paul

Thanks Michael,

I have purchased an air blower similar to yours. My main concern is that I read that the glass in front of the M11 sensor is a lot thinner than on the M10 and earlier. The pentax stick has quite a stickiness and don’t won’t to break that glass.
Cheers and happy shooting.

You won't break the cover glass unless you apply considerable pressure.

The pentax gel stick is the only tool I use to clean my camera sensors when an air blower isn't up to the task.

I've not yet needed it on my M11 though.

I use the air blower when I notice dust in the images, which is around every few months or so for me  with regular use.  I hold the camera facing down when I use the blower and I use the dust detection feature in the menu to test my work.

Thanks hmzimelka,

Good to read. How often do you guys find you use the air blower? I have a real fear of trying to clean the sensor - even blasting air onto it 🙂

About once every two weeks... gently blow out any dust I notice in images. I don't let it accumulate.

It's definitely not as delicate as you make it out to be. Once you do it a few times your confidence will grow.

Just to avoid tempting fate, just like when updating firmware, make sure your battery has a good charge and you should be set.
