DonovanMediaCenter Posted April 1, 2022 Share #1 Posted April 1, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Unboxed the Leica Q2 this morning and have been setting it up. The screen protector has a few air bubbles, but everything else OK. Reading these forums, watching tutorials (I’ve mainly worked in pro video for 30 years)…returning to my roots and desiring the stripped down simplicity of the Q2. It actually reminds me of using my dad’s Konica SLR in the 80s. Simple magic. I chickened out on a Monochrome, but immediately set up a Monochrome user profile. Looking forward to the journey, and have been inspired by the Leica forum and Facebook image samples. Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted April 1, 2022 Posted April 1, 2022 Hi DonovanMediaCenter, Take a look here I haven’t made a truly decent photo yet, but…. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Camaro5 Posted April 1, 2022 Share #2 Posted April 1, 2022 With any new camera it takes time and some practice to find its potential. I sometimes feel I could get more out of my M10-R but for the most part the images are very nice. One thing you won't have to deal with on a Q2 is buying a lot of lenses, which can be a blessing to your bank account. I really like what I've seen out of the Q2. As for the screen protector, I never had much luck putting those things on without getting air bubbles. Now I just let my local shop do it.
Viv Posted April 1, 2022 Share #3 Posted April 1, 2022 (edited) The Q2 is a wonderful tool. I am sure that you will make great photos with it. I like your dog. Edited April 1, 2022 by Viv
Viv Posted April 1, 2022 Share #4 Posted April 1, 2022 As to B/W, the Q2 will give you 90% of the quality of the output from the M.

The secret to Q2 is to carry it everywhere and experiment - you will be greatly rewarded as you discover its strengths.
Le Chef Posted April 1, 2022 Share #8 Posted April 1, 2022 I use Expert Shield Protectors. They are very thin glass covers with really good fit to the screen. They send you two included in the price. The instructions are very clear and as a consequence you get no bubbles. I have fitted them for both my Q2 and CL. Search on this forum and you will find other comments about them. Camaro5 Posted April 1, 2022 Share #9 Posted April 1, 2022 I used to go to the Leica Store at Caesar's Palace when it was open. They would put on the screen protector for free and always did a nice job. Too bad it's now closed but I can see why. There was never anybody in there except the employees. I also got a few air bubbles in mine but will live with it until I need a new screen protector. It's not an item you can return after you put it on the camera, and to be honest, it doesn't match the quality you would expect from Leica.

I bought the Monochrom version just a week ago, and totally love what it's capable of producing, especially in low light. Enjoy!
