I decided to follow advice to turn camera off between taking pictures on walk, event and so on.

It improved battery charge very significantly.

After few weeks power on-off switch on Canon RP stopped working. I googled and realized what Canon R series power switch is common source of the problem.

Does anyone turn M9 on-off between shots and was where any trouble in long term. I do it with M-E 220 for couple of months now and battery lasts for weeks instead of days.

I habitually turn my camera off between shots.  It’s just ingrained.  Not so much with the SL and M10-D, as the on-off switch is on the back, rather a collar around the shutter.  No battery issues with the Monochrom.  The X1Dii would overheat if I left it on, so turned that of too.

I do this with all my Leica cameras that I used... MM, M240, SL, SL2, SL-S and now M11...
I see no problem with this... The On-Off switch is very good on the Leica cameras and I
don't think that he will some day fall of... I shoot street photography and tend to turn the
camera off when I had done series of photos or “ working the scene“... And you are right...
The battery life became much better with this practice... Most off the time I use single shooting mode...
Don't like to spray and pray because I am confident enough in my photography skills and how to operate
a Leica rangefinder camera to get a “decisive moment“...
When I am done shooting this scene I move on and shut my Leica off... I know that is not good when
you shoot streets because you can lose the important moment but I don't stress about that...
As someone said  "the photos that I did't shot does not exist“ or something...
Similar concept like the “Schrödingers cat° I guess... :D

I leave my cameras ON until I am really done photographing. The cameras will of course go to sleep after the delay selected in the Power Off menu – I use either 2 or 5 minutes. I simply carry a spare battery in the very rare case when the battery gets exhausted.  The M9 battery lasts forever, the M-P's runs out sooner as I may be using the EVF with some lenses. I do not yet have enough data about my new SL2, but I may end up carrying two spare batteries for that one. I have often forgotten to turn the camera off at the end of the day and found that the next day the battery did not drain much if at all.

I've left my M9 turned on (asleep) for weeks at a time, with almost no added drain on the battery. My M10 battery drains when sitting, even if turned off. Of course, if I used it every day I'd never notice...

When I started out shooting with my old M9-P I used to switch it off if I thought I might not be snapping for even a very short while (as in a minute or so) but there were occasions very early on where I missed a few pictures as the camera was waking up so now, like Jean-Michel mentions above, when I'm out I leave my cameras switched on unless I'm 100% sure I won't be shooting anything for a LONG time.

The M Monochrom often needs a second battery if I'm out for several hours so, for that body, I always carry a spare (actually two just in case). Recharging any/all batteries used that day always happens when I get home every time I've been out to ensure that all will be well for the next jaunt. OTOH the battery-life of the M-D Typ-262 is so good (for obvious reasons) that I don't even own a spare...which, thinking about it, is probably a bad idea...but I still recharge its battery at the same time as I do the batteries for the MM.

Had my M9 for just over 12 years, and my Monochrom 1 for 8 years.  Never found any battery drain problems when leaving them on for weeks.  The one and only reason for turning them off is to prevent the SET menu to accidentally turn on when carrying the camera in its strap under my left arm, ready to shoot but out of harm´s way.

Been turning off since I got into the habit with the fujis

I've yet to notice a problem.. Also I don't notice a significant time difference (especially on the m10) between wake up and boot from off. So I figure why waste the battery?

Perhaps the on/off switch will wear faster if used more..
