Is anybody else frustrated with the multi segment light metering ?

I find it unpredictable and it often overexposes my images at the slightest suggestion of shadow detail. I'm constantly checking images and dialling in  -1.7 to +1 exposure depending on the scene. It's far from an intelligent light meter, and this new highlight weighted metering is even less predictable.

I leave the VisoFlex on all the time and use the option of getting a preview of the shot by pressing the shutter release half way. I then use the command wheel to change the EV adjustment to get the histogram where I want it. I do this for both my M10-R and M11

In RF mode, if many shots in a row are ok but then one is blown out (lens cap on or tripod with unchanging light), then it sounds like a power continuity issue to the sensor in the RF mode, which we know is some sort of lower power mode versus live view. And this sounds like it's complicated by a completely wrong implementation of what highlight-based metering is supposed to be as per the SL2/SL2-S where it works as expected. It sounds more like a highlight-biased meter than a meter that will not allow an overexposed highlight anywhere in the frame. Maybe the software engineer that wrote the firmware code simply didn't know what highlight-based metering was supposed to be.

Is anyone experiencing auto preview sporadically not working (screen remains black after taking a shot as if auto preview is completely turned off)?

posted this also here in a dedicated thread.

Sometimes it works sometimes it does not…

thx.
