tjphoto Posted March 13, 2022 Share #1 Posted March 13, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has this topic been discussed? I’m new here . The S007 I have produces amazing black and white images . But, wouldn’t a S monochrome be even more incredible ? Will it ever happen? Leica has been coming up some surprising cameras recently. personally, I wish they would.

Nosferatu Posted March 13, 2022 Share #2 Posted March 13, 2022 A monochrome S or monochrome SL is a Great Idea
tjphoto Posted March 13, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted March 13, 2022 If people are comparing the m10 monochrome to 4x5 film then the S would compare with 8x10 ? In terms of resolution and tonality not depth of field of course .

davidmknoble Posted March 18, 2022 Share #6 Posted March 18, 2022 @tjphoto, in general folks have made some stellar images from the S system in black and white. Keep in mind two things: 1) the S system is incredibly tuned for color to make publication photography simpler and 2) the S camera is already a niche camera, much more so than the other Leicas. So, Leica Germany would have to justify the R&D and the sensor cost to make a monochrom model, and very few people might buy it. It would be a great dream camera for sure, and I would enjoy it, but I doubt it will happen for both those reasons…
fgio1 Posted May 24, 2022 Share #7 Posted May 24, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) If you have the money buy a used Leica S , I'd suggest a 006 because the other things are too expensive In my opinion to experiment but also a 007 would be fine and find a lab that can do a monochrome sensor conversion
Sailronin Posted May 25, 2022 Share #8 Posted May 25, 2022 (edited) I've had some pretty good luck converting S(006) files for B&W. That said, I would love to have one of the Phase One IQ 260 Achromatic monochrome digital backs for my old Hasselblad 503cw. Below is my wife taking a picture with her iPhone on Kalaloch Beach in Washington. Leica S(006) with 120mm T-S Apo-Elmarit S converted in SilverEFX Pro Welcome, dear visitor! mgrayson3 Posted June 14, 2022 Share #11 Posted June 14, 2022 S(007), S100mm. Most of my 007 shots got BW conversions. With the 006 and S3, I like the colors more so it's about 50/50 Welcome, dear visitor! One of my very last images with that body. Apologies.
