Good morning all .
I want to buy this Leica Compur Rim Set serial 61XX , according with leica camera forum first batch made 600 (1926-1929) starting with serial 5701 and ending at 6300 ! But leica camera forum says that first batch where all dial set not rim set.
And another question is ...does not write anything in front of the lens , like other Leica Compur such as : "F.Deckel Munchen" "Compur".
And the arming lever is different like other Leica Compur
Front lens ring is also different like the dial compur Leica.
So what kind of Leica Compur is and what is the value!
Thank you and stay safe!

other pictures on the www look different, Leitz would not show the opening-ring on front of the Compur shutter and the red dot on the aperture scale does not look right either. post some other pics from top plate to show release button and film clock. I think parts are put together, we had such cameras here from time to time.

Yes there are some strange things here, but serial number looks ok to me and also the lens look to be ok and it looks like the lens on the compur dial set

What you have is a genuine Leica B fitted with a later Compur shutter and a Leitz Elmar lens. This camera would have been issued with a dial set shutter originally. This shutter is a rim set example and it has chrome trim rather than the nickel trim which was on both dial set and rim set Compur B shutters. See photos below, courtesy of Leitz Auction

According to Jim Lager the camera serial number ranges are 5701 to 13163 for dial set and 13154 to 51715 for rim set.

You can provide the lens serial number if it has one, but I would suspect that it does not have one. Deckel Compur shutter serial numbers are a nightmare to follow and I have found no real consistency in the many that I have, both dial set and rim set, covering quite of number of camera different makes. I have seen lists, but none of them match what is on the shutters which I have, both dial set and rim set. I have a comprehensive book on Compur shutters written in German by Hartmut Thiele, but that does not provide any real answers.

Camera looks genuine to me, except Compur shutter, must have been replaced, this is a reason why ii is chromed, aperture 22 and some other features. Optics seem to be original dial set, Elmar engravings are inside, on rim set were outside. Photo of the bottom without bottom cover shows construction typical for Compur, was different than IA. With some luck you might be able to get dial Compur shutter with appropriate size and have almost fully original camera

Thank you all , this is an amazing forum , i think I will keep it as or maybe I will try to find a compur , i did not know what to do for the moment , but I'm amazed that I found a real leica Compur for a decent price and with a low serial number , first batch of 600 .

I also e-mailed Leica for some info and they said that for the moment your database is under maintenance.

Have a nice day all !

I would keep the camera just as it is, any repairs or upgrades are part of it's unique history and it is how it was used and loved back in it's day. In any really mature genre of collecting the original repairs and patina on the collectibles ad to it's value and history.

I would feel great just having it work well and be usable as is.  This historical and rare camera has much more chance of being actually worth something than the dump-truck loads of later Leica cameras being traded at silly prices the last several years.
