I suppose it depends on the lens and the camera. For portraits on the 50 Summilux ASPH, mounted on my Monochrom, it makes skin tones more flattering. Any M camera has a residual IR sensitivity - which means that you get a (quite underexposed) unsharp IR image overlaid on your sharp visible-light one.
