This issue is now being discussed everywhere, and not just here in the forum. I would like to see some form of statement. Personally, I am a little surprised as well. I have FF and CL, but use CL by far the most because I frequently find FF to be too large to carry around. I am probably not the only person thinking like this. I may be in error, but I would expect that the global market for APS-C exceeds the FF market, and why should Leica give it up? Hopefully, they are not. Perhaps supply constraints prevent them from launching new models.

Here in Norway, one dealer still have 6 sets of the CL Paul Smith edition for sale. They have tried to discount by 40 % (way below cost) but the goods are glued to the floor.

adan Posted March 23, 2022 Share #386 Posted March 23, 2022 6 hours ago, Ivar B said: I would expect that the global market for APS-C exceeds the FF market, It does. We'll skip the Covid years: https://www.fujirumors.com/2019-mirrorless-camera-market-fujifilm-is-solid-third-with-500k-shipments-behind-sony-1-65-million-and-canon-940k/ But when I worked in a camera store 2011-2015, our new APS-C camera sales were 80% Canon Rebels - for $450-$600 including lens. (The other 20% were Canon 7Ds, Fujis and Sonys). And even then, we'd often have to leave the couple (usually) alone for 10 minutes while they had a private family conference to decide if they could afford that. That is the "global market" for APS-C cameras. Which is big because it is - mostly - cheap. Our customers would have fallen off their stools laughing if we'd shown them a $3800 CL + 18-56 (if they had existed then). "Leica" on the front allows Leica to sell their gear for maybe twice the price of competitors (e.g. Nikon Z9 vs. M11). Is there evidence that it's enough to support a price six to eight times the competition?

Frankly I find it depressing that Leica should abdicate its responsibility in such a slipshod and lackadaisical manner and leave ordinary members of the public to steer what people say about the company. Thats usually a sign that the company no longer has leadership and that employees no longer care what happens. 1

No further debate necessary. Because it's mostly Ferrari red, it's also faster than the ordinary CL. 1

I’m rather surprised, with your posting of the doom of Leica, that you haven’t sold off your Leica gear and bought into one of the other systems you seem to think is getting it right. Clueless comment - can't you do better than that? If you can be bothered you could read what I have written on this and other fora - plenty of posts to read - you would have noted that I have no issue with Leica cameras or lenses and post images on a regular basis. My issue is with the management of the company which frankly is very poor.

Leica would have gone broke if your prognostications were correct; and yet, among camera makers it seems to be one of, if not the most, profitable. So, another question - do you think your posts, and the style of posting, will persuade Leica to make the CL2? I assume they have a prototype ready to go. Have they called, asking you to join their management board?

Have they called, asking you to join their management board? You're still not reading very well - comprehension lacking - my issue stated many times is poor communication. Since Leica appear to take no notice of what its customers are saying I'm not expecting a call to join the board. You mention Leica being one of the most profitable companies. Care to share their margins by product line over the last 10 years? I'm assuming you have that data since you sound so confident about it. If you have it why not post it here? I'm sure other owners would feel reassured that their contributions through purchases were leading to higher margins.
