Advertisement Posted March 27, 2022 Posted March 27, 2022 Hi Photoworks, Take a look here Official Leica SL2/SL2-S L-Log LUT (Where is it?). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Flore Posted March 28, 2022 Share #22 Posted March 28, 2022 Thank you both very much.@hansvons This is very helpful. I'm a complete rookie in DR. I have had a half day class which seemed super clear and then tried it again at home and it was very hard... I have budgeted a colour grader but I'd like to fiddle with it first to make sure I'm filming the right way. So I'll explore your suggested workflow. I need to figure out with post people what the deliverables are. Again, thank you for your help. Much appreciated. @Photoworks Super useful insight. I'm required to film in HD1080, so I should be fine. I have pretty good SD cards. I also have a cage with a Ninja V and a 1T storage. But I find it way too cumbersome and heavy for an observational documentary where I want to be as discrete as possible. I hope my Sandisks 128GB, 170MB/s - (10) and another Sandisk 256GB, 150MB/s - (10) will be enough. Regarding the batteries, you're absolutely right. I have 5 and I can also plug the camera in with the mini USB for more formal interviews. I have set up a Profile too which is super useful. In terms of focus, I've always filmed in MF but I'm trying the AFc with the face following thingy. It's actually a lot of fun. And I don't mind the moments missed (for now). I suspect I'll go back to MF very quickly ;))) The last step for me will to understand how the Rec2020 workflow works and if I need a colour grader to help me create a LUT before I start filming to make sure I see the right image behind the camera and avoid all the exposure mistakes... or if the Leica ones are enough. Again, thank you so much for your help.

f4nest Posted June 23, 2022 Share #26 Posted June 23, 2022 I too use the Leica LUT just as a helpful roughly impression during recording and use ColorGradingPro 2 creating my own LUTs in post and by that being able to correct fine color tuning, contrast and if I want style. jmm1 Posted August 22, 2022 Share #28 Posted August 22, 2022 I do finding it insulting that Leica has never provided a LUT for the SL2 - their flagship SL - and this is 3 years since release. Sony and Panasonic had LUTs form day 1 and makes shooting LOG video a real breeze. J
jonnyboy Posted October 6, 2022 Share #29 Posted October 6, 2022 Helpful! Finally got my hands on the Leica LUT - quick Q: I know how to set the camera to shoot Log, how do you set the monitor to show the LUT? I think it's called LUT Assistant on Sony...I cant seem to find it... Thanks!
