M11 Startup LCD bug?

I have seen this phenomenon on my new M11... from a cold start (battery removed then installed, followed by a power on), the LCD will not turn on. Pressing any button (e.g., Play, FN, Menu, any direction pad buttons) does nothing. Once I finally take a photo, the image preview provides the image on the LCD... and then the Menu button functions like normal. Does anyone else see this phenomenon?

Often times, from a cold start, the Menu button works just fine. But this bug happens occasionally enough for me to post here in this forum. Hopefully, this is a fixable bug in the bootup process... and not a faulty camera. Thank you!

I'm running 1.2.1.0.

Just checking that you removed the firmware from your SD card after updating? Presuming you updated that way.

I have had a similar behavior when charging from USB-C. After a period of time when charging, the LCD will no longer come on nor will any buttons wake the camera until I remove the cable and restart the camera. This only occurs after at least 5-10 min of charging.

Me too.

I have exactly the same problem, running the same firmware version, very annoying

There is always a startup delay until the rear button presses are recognized – it's the same delay it takes for the LCD to turn on when Live View is left on from the previous use of the camera. To illustrate the wait time needed before the buttons will work, leave Live View on when you turn off the camera. Turn the camera back on and notice how long it takes until the LCD turns on – it's quite a while. That's the same amount of time you have to wait until the rear buttons will work.

If there is a bug, it's the fact that the LCD has to be ready to turn on before the button presses will be accepted. It should be possible for the camera to recognize the button presses and then activate their function once the camera is fully booted.

Note that the slower your SD card, the longer the delay. Always use the fastest UHS-II cards that have write speeds close to the 300mb/sec read speed.
