A couple of landscape shots with the Sigma 30mm f1.4 apsc lens for anyone thinking of getting one. I like it. Its bit bigger than the 18/2.8 but from specs is small than the Leica TL 35mm and of course a lot cheaper. I will also post a couple with the Sigma 56mm f1.4 apsc lens in a seperate post

I like the 30mm, on the CL, it renders great colors and is uber sharp in the center. This isn't a great picture just an example of the bokeh on the 30mm 1.4.

I tried using this lens at a kids party yesterday on the CL and was most frustrated with it at times.  The room was well lit with both overhead lights and natural light.  Many times I would prefocus on my subject and it would not lock focus, hunting. Then other times it would work perfectly, mostly after camera being woken from auto power off.  Always same settings

Here’s an example from the day. Exif should show settings.  Maybe I’ve got something wrong? Would love to hear how other people are getting on with this lens  I do have a TL 18mm on its way to me. Maybe I’m expecting too much from a cheap lens??

I don't have the Sigma 30 Mmanda, but I do have the 56mm and that can be a bit fussy in autofocus on the CL but only generally where there isn't good contrast at the focus point, which can sometimes be the case with faces.   Your photo reminded me of my Granddaughter's 7th birthday, Frozen inspired with an Ariel, few years ago now but kids (and me) had a great time.  Looks like when it did focus it did a good job.  You may find the 18TL a bit snappier.

Thanks Jayne.  Thought as much! I’ve got an M240 and was thinking if I wanted to miss images i could just shoot with that! 😆

this Elsa was pretty amazing. In character with her American accent and amazing singing voice!

Just realised I'm mixing up my Ariel and Elsa's - Little Mermaid, Frozen, guess if you've been forced to watch the DVD's as often as I have over the years it's hardly surprising😀..

It was an Ariel at this party, and she was pretty amazing with her wonderful red flowing locks.  I used the CL with the TL 35 for that, it takes some beating (which is a shame given it's size and cost).

I have both the Sigma 30 and the 56 and found initially that they both hunted for focus. I updated the firmware for the lenses and that seems to have reduced the problem. You can download a firmware update from the Sigma site.

Thanks for that... seems 56mm still has firmware 1:1 (Jan 2020) so mine is up to date, but the 30mm got another update 2022.
