It would give the user something to hold on to and would provide a degree of protection for the user's $9000 USD camera. $9000 USD - Holy Freaking Moses... 😳 I think it's an insult to my Noctilux to pair it with such a cheap body 🙃

ivohula Posted February 17, 2022 Share #22 Posted February 17, 2022 As of today, RRS is still silent on their L-Plate for M11.The Canon r3 just went on sale and camera has been selling for 3 more months than m11. So, expect RRS to announce their grip in April.

I'd be surprised if they didn't produce one. Im tempted to just take a drill to my 10-R version. But it could take far more time than I'm personally willing to wait at this point. I've used their grips for so many years on my Ms that I feel a little nervous holding it, even with a wrist strap. Need something soon, though perhaps a half case is a better interim solution than the Leica grip. I know that feeling. I am used to the M10 grip too but didn't order the new grip with my silver M11 because I assumed there would be a new silver edition M11 grip coming at some point. But now I don't think there will be a silver edition grip and nobody Leica shop owners included, seems to know otherwise, so I should probably just order the black M11 grip. In the meantime, I am using a M10 leather half case with small grip and M10 Thumb Grip which seems to be working out well. I do have to take the case off when I need to access the bottom of the camera, so I do need to find a better solution soon.

They will be producing M11 bodies with 24k gold top plates - complete with the black finish applied over the top plate, of course. 😁

Herr Barnack Posted February 21, 2022 Author Share #27 Posted February 21, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) @Gelatino Bold new finishes on M cameras will soon be all the rage. To that end, I picked up the carcass of a rather large snake I found killed on the road a couple of days ago. I am going to send my M10M and the snake's skin off to have the camera recovered. It will be a one off custom that I'll call the Road Kill Drifter. Edited February 21, 2022 by Herr Barnack

I would highly recommend this Arca Swiss universal L bracket that I have been using for 6 years with all my cameras: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/723386-REG/Arca_Swiss_802306_Universal_L_Bracket.html

Poser un oeil Posted July 15, 2023 Share #30 Posted July 15, 2023 The hand grip is great from the standpoint of holding the M11 camera, but when I try to change SD cards, I can't do it without removing it from the camera. I am an average sized person with average sized hands. I have tried everything I can think of, but no luck. If any of you have found a way to do this, please share. Woolly66 Posted July 15, 2023 Share #31 Posted July 15, 2023 I wanted a second grip (as I got the M11Mono as well) and found one by Gurippu, Apparently it's designed in Canada, but made in Hong Kong. It doesn't have the rubber base, but does have the Arca Swiss plate and battery/card access. The grip is squarer and not quite as deep but seems well made and feels good in the hand to me. It's about half the price of the Leica one and available through camerworks-uk in the UK (not sure about other countries).
ianforber Posted July 15, 2023 Share #32 Posted July 15, 2023 I use an Arte di Mano leather half case which has a slightly raised area at the front which is enough extra grip for me. They also provide the option to have a much more pronounced Aventino grip option. The case has a fold out section that allows access to the battery and a much smaller aperture that gives you access to the usb connection without exposing the battery. No arca plate though. Personally I know when I’m likely to need to use a tripod so only attach a plate on those occasions. I use a small Sirui plate TY-C10 mounted so that I can still fold back the door to the battery. It is difficult to remove the card but it can be done without having to remove the grip. I tend to find that the best approach is to grip the sides of the card and remove it that way. DadDadDaddyo Posted July 20, 2023 Share #35 Posted July 20, 2023 Re price. Can't remember if I've mentioned this here, and I beg your forgiveness if this is a rerun, but.... We had a nextdoor neighbor for many years who had a nice fishing boat sitting on a trailer in his driveway. It was under a well-made cover much of the time. Toward the start of each season he'd uncover it and go through the ritual of firing up the two outboards (one main and one for trolling) in preparation. Accompanied by the liberal application of language, he'd remove shrouds, hook up hoses, attach chargers etc., getting everything ready, producing huge clouds of smoke. It was tremendously exciting! Maybe, that weekend, he'd hook up the trailer and go. He and the boat might be absent for a couple of days, then they'd return, and back on would go the cover. My estimation, based on over a decade of observation, was that he took that boat out on two or three occasions in a season. I think he did actually do some fishing when he had it out, but I don't recall especially hearing about his results. Like me, this neighbor was an avid astrophotographer as well. We'd frequently meet up in our adjoining back yards on a good night and chat about the vagaries of astrophotography (which, I must be honest, are endless, bottomless, and without limit). Astrophotography can also start to become expensive if you get bitten bad by the bug. We'd comment on that as well, but agreeing that as a hobby, it is without parallel. In the context of one such conversation, I mentioned seeing him working on his boat recently, to which he replied, muttering, "That money pit..." So. That's it in a nutshell. I hazard a guess that he had as much money into his fishing boat as I've got into my entire Leica collection, which, I'm admit, is more than I've even put into Amateur Astronomy and Astrophotography combined. My neighbor merrily sold the fishing boat when he retired. He's still into Astrophotography. I use my Leicas day in and day out, and they provide me with endless enjoyment, challenge, and satisfaction. I think *even* if I worked out what they cost per hour I'd be way ahead of where my neighbor was with his fishing boat - certainly so in terms of cost per hour of use, let alone cost of fish per pound. You don't need Leicas to experience this with a heartfelt hobby - any heartfelt hobby, including Astrophotography, or even fishing. But the expenses associated with such a lifelong pastime are trivial compared with the reward, and are the furthest thing from money or time wasted.
