Hi All,

I have several Leica M lenses being used on M8.2 and M9 bodies. My only 6 Bit coded lens is Elmarit 28 Asph. If I switch the camera to manual and select the lens being used on the camera does it achieve the same result as a lens with 6 bit coding? These are not real old lenses just ones made previous to digital bodies

.Thanks, Smitty

Selection in the menu has the same effect as 6 bit code. The caveat to that is the newer lenses having 6 bit codes since their beginning are not in the menu.

Thanks. If I hadn’t had the info and been new to these cameras the information would have been very welcome -  and it may still be to people casually browsing
