detman Posted January 18, 2022 Share #1  Posted January 18, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I just got a 1:2/50 Summicron in beautiful condition. But I cannot rotate the focus ring (in neither direction), even if i pull it to the front. The ring stucks at 1m position, see picture. Any tips to fix this? Thanks in advance... Advertisement Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 Hi detman, Take a look here Summicron 1:2 50 / Goggle Version: Focus ring cannot be rotate. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted January 18, 2022 Share #2  Posted January 18, 2022 Maybe the condition is not so beautiful? Either it has not been used in decades polymerizing the lubricant or it has had a knock damaging if the focus mechanism. Return it or send it to one of the trusted repair shops.
a.noctilux Posted January 18, 2022 Share #3 Â Posted January 18, 2022 (edited) Normal in this position, close range it waits for the optical close device to push the ball ... with your thumb, push on the ball, then it would turn. Â Or push the focus ring forward, then turn to normal range, it would turn freely. edit, do what Jaap told you. Sorry, I saw it at close range. That would make sense if I want to tocus closer than 1m; but I cannot turn focus to infinity, too... By the way, when pushing the ball It does not move in fully, so I cannot put on the goggles. Pyrogallol Posted January 18, 2022 Share #5  Posted January 18, 2022 With the focus at 1 mtr push the goggles on, then it will let you pull the front out and turn it past the stop into the close range.do the reverse to move back to the distance range. There are other threads about this and I have read that there are two version of the dual range goggles with slightly different shapes to the connection, I don’t know if the wrong goggles will fit the other version of goggles and lens. But your goggles should hopefully fit past the ball.

detman Posted January 23, 2022 Author Share #7 Â Posted January 23, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for your comments. I went to a Leica store, and they solved the problem. The lens has not been used for decades and as a result the focus ring has seized. Now everything works.
