It's the leica lens that makes the picture and not the body. Digital M cameras depreciate so fast over the 5 yrs life cycle so I agree with original poster

Hanging on to my M240P. Been shooting it with fine jpeg for both color and b&w and they come out fine. Still see the Leica glow so I'm good to go.

Whenever a new M comes out it always the same question. Some get it straight away, some wait, and some wait for second hand. I bought an M9 and M-Monchrom new, but all the others I bought second hand, many multiple times.

I still think IMHO, and I said this 2 years ago, that the M240 series currently represents the best bang for buck. At 2.2-2.5k in the UK, and with all the Voigtlander, Zeiss, Ttartisan, 7Artisan and Leica glass around new and second hand, one can get a nice kit for not much in FF terms that will not loose much, if any money.

The 240 was a very reliable model, and had a more robust range finder mechanism, which for me has never gone out on multiple bodies

Agreed, I bought my M240 for £2300 in May 2021 and just this month it sold at a London dealer for the same amount, so I am out by the 15% sales commission, or in other words, I got to "rent" it for a year for less than £30 a month, which isn't bad at all :)

I'd still have it now but I wanted an M262 instead, which I now have.  It cost me £500 more than I paid for the 240, which says something about its relative rarity, considering it was originally the budget version of the 240.

YO  I haven't posted in here in forever...

Internet payment has been made for my oh so minty fresh MP240, my FIRST digital M.  In 2022.  less than 2k on the odometer.

I'm fixin to black tape over the screw, and maybe the label on the top too, BUT that MP240 setup?  I think its visually better looking than the M9-P which was (and still is) PERFECT

I've been at this for a while, too.  I'm SIKED.

I have two "ancient" Leica M-P 240's that I use for all my professional work, commercial, weddings, etc. The M11 looks great but my rigs are doing just fine. In any case the M Mount Lenses are the real stars, both Leica and Voigtlander brands. (I might change my tune when a used M11 gets down under $4000) 🥵

I picked up a beautiful M10. I'm moving up slowly.
