Even if it adds 2 to 3 mm to the thickness of the camera?

If the X100V is any indication, it won't add anything to the profile, they will rearrange the internals to make room for it. The real question is will it be two-way tilt (landscape-only) or three-way (landscape + portrait).

I’m in if that’s a tilt screen.

The only other feature I’d like to see is a joystick, like on the SL2(S). The new button placement seems awkward, but I wonder if they had to do it for the tilt screen.

Also, second “crop” (probably Fn) button for the pixel binning perhaps?

Yup. I think only certain M users are obsessed with camera thickness.

But there's no proof it will add thickness. There are plenty of cameras slimmer and smaller than the Q that have a tiltable / fully articulated screen.

Why do you think Leica won't be able to squeeze a tilt screen without adding thickness? Other camera brands seems capable of doing this no problem.

Because the Q series works with a lens/sensor unit that is already put back as much as possible. I doubt whether they will redesign the whole unit to be shorter - that would be an expensive operation.

True, but although personally speaking I have found such a thing to be problematic with some other cameras. That said, one would assume if it's an issue here then it could have been brought up by testers given Leica's less is more/everything in its right place design reputation. The thumb recess may render it a non issue here.

From the image it looks to be hinged on the left hand side, which would imply a flip-out and fully rotatable screen.

That might help explain shifting the buttons to the right of the display (though perhaps it's just a bigger screen that commanded the change), but I'd personally be very disappointed with a flip out rotatable display as I find them more fragile, they attract attention and I've never been able to make myself accustomed to viewing something off axis like that. A 90 degree and 45 degree tilt mechanism similar to that of Fuji's X100V, or better yet the one in the Z9, would be more practical for me.

Love buttons on the right !!
yea. Finally a Leica you ca  operate with your sole right hand !
Asking for this since 2015…

It looks like a flip out screen

See the beautifully hidden hinge on the right ?
In the bottom it seems to be some room for fingers to flip out the screen

The most important question is if the Maestro III can drive the new sensor, but I doubt it. It is barely enough for decent autofocus on the SL2/SL2s

Maestro III is perfect for manual focusing 😝 look at M11

That's actually a very good argument for the new placement of the buttons.

I'm still not a fan of a flip screen vs a tilt screen however. I doubt anyone could convince me otherwise on that front. :)  (I respect that it is a preferred option for selfie lovers and video people however, and Leica do seem to be pushing products towards influences lately).

now it's a question of...when?

It's most curious that it would show up in the app if it were far away, and we do know there is something Q related still to come this year from the wall chart in the M11 video. Leica are certainly having a bad time when it comes to products leaking ahead of any formal announcement this year though.

It's interesting how much I miss the Q (I had the original). I was planning to get a Q2 over the summer but this has obviously given me some pause.
