nicci78 Posted January 20, 2022 Share #81 Posted January 20, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I repeat again but a 24mm lens can bring us the chance to have the equivalent of a 24-75mm zoom lens in a compact form.
Advertisement Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 Hi nicci78, Take a look here Leica Q3 predictions / ruminations. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Chris W Posted January 20, 2022 Share #82 Posted January 20, 2022 I think cropping is a compromise solution to a fixed lens. I just prefer a fixed lens approach.
Simone_DF Posted January 20, 2022 Share #83 Posted January 20, 2022 1 hour ago, nicci78 said: competition with other brand is not really relevant. Leica mostly compete with themselves. Sure, for M cameras, because they are unique, for good or for bad. For everything else, they compete with other manufacturers, see the decrease in price of the SL. From 8500 to 6500 > 4500 > kit with zoom > kit with zoom and also a L-M adapter. There's no such thing on the M side of things, quite the opposite, price went up 300€. Because there's no competition. hdmesa Posted January 20, 2022 Share #84 Posted January 20, 2022 Jesko von Oeynhausen just said in the live Leica Tech Talk about the M11 that there would be no other new products released this year despite the rumors mentioned in this thread. This is due to the effort that was required to create the M11. No Q3 this year. I'm still thinking the Q3 announcement will be in 2022 with 2023 delivery.

nicci78 Posted January 20, 2022 Share #88 Posted January 20, 2022 I hope not ! Keep the current slightly bigger SCL4 battery !! I really to keep my current extra batteries Who wants the stupid M11 design ? I can change SD card conveniently with Q2 separate door. I think that some internal constraints forced some design choices for M11. You’ll see M12 major redesign : separate SD card door 🤣
ben446 Posted January 20, 2022 Author Share #89 Posted January 20, 2022 (edited) I can see the advantage of using the SCL4 batteries as well. Especially as I already own a bunch of them. 😎 Edited January 20, 2022 by ben446

Being a monochrome sensor camera you already have great high ISO performance and effectively have the comparative color equivalent of around 70-75 Mp of cropping ability due to the lack of a Bayer filter. nicci78 Posted January 21, 2022 Share #92 Posted January 21, 2022 It is totally safe to buy Q2 Mono, there won’t be a new one before years. By the way I am absolutely sure that Q3 will not use M11 battery. In a kind of odd choice, digital M cameras have their own unique battery, never shared with others. M8-M9 has theirs. M typ 240/246/262 their own M10 a specific one. M11 today introduced another type again I am pretty sure that the new battery will remain exclusive to M11

nicci78 Posted January 21, 2022 Share #94 Posted January 21, 2022 (edited) Of course all those nice things are independent from the battery used inside M11. M11 is showing the path of future Leica cameras. They are all on a kind of incremental improvements on each generation. Q = M typ 240 button layout with new menu system from Maestro II. SL = S button layout with new menu system from Maestro II M10 = new 3 buttons layout (LV Play Menu) with Maestro II menu. CL = newer 3 buttons layout (Play FN Menu) with Maestro II and customisable FN buttons. Etc… until M11 using SL2 Maestro III menu system and USB-C charging ability. Leica can make a compact USB-C charger for BP-SCL4. They can also add USB-C to Q3 while keeping the current battery. 64GB internal memory is also possible. It is just a tiny chip. But a very necessary move. Everybody can forget an SD card at home Fun fact CL and Q2 already have USB port. It is hidden beneath the fixed bottom plate. It is only use for diagnostic ! nicci78 Posted February 11, 2022 Share #98 Posted February 11, 2022 (edited) My Q3 wish list : - new better lens : it can be 24mm or still 28mm without OIS. F/1.7 is okay. It has to handle 60MP without any flaw. It can be shorter too. - IBIS please !! Sensor stabilisation is way better for wide angle lens than OIS. - flip out screen. I am a dad now and I would love to have one ! Just for self portraits with my little miss sunshine ☀️ - 60 MP BSI is nice to have. But in all honesty. I would be ecstatic with a 24MP BSI version. - keep weathersealing ! Even with flip out screen. - keep the same battery !! - 64GB internal memory. - Maestro III. The former version is too limited for 47MP. - Same or better EVF. - almost same price would be neat. 100-200€ more is okay. Not more. - release date : April, may or June 2022 would be awesome ! As you can see I am pretty easy to please. Leica you know what to do. 😌 Edited February 11, 2022 by nicci78

How much heavier will you accept? If you keep the same battery how many fewer shots are you prepared to accept to handle the increased performance? There is no free lunch: with every gain what are you prepared to lose or how much more are you prepared to pay?
