AndyC Posted January 13, 2022 Share #1 Posted January 13, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I know we’re almost certainly getting an announcement from Leica about the next digital M body today, but I can’t be the only one hoping for an M7 “sequel”, the M13. Aperture priority, preferably with a hybrid shutter with the functionality of the Nikon FM3a, and under £5,000 please.

oldwino Posted January 13, 2022 Share #2 Posted January 13, 2022 Would be nice. The FM3a is a really good camera.
ianman Posted January 13, 2022 Share #3 Posted January 13, 2022 It has been mentioned by our own crystal ball that the next film M will be yet another M6 limited edition.

It never really occurred to me that a camera might use the same sort of chips as a car or mobile phone, but I suppose there’s a knock-on effect. I’ve been too scared to buy a used M7 recently in case the electronics fail and it turns instantly into a £3,000 paperweight, but I don’t think I could resist a brand new version. a.noctilux Posted January 13, 2022 Share #6 Posted January 13, 2022 M7 electronics can last for decades even if not repairable when/if shutter fails. Why don't you give M7 a try ? I'm lucky to have choices of mechanical/electronic M compatible camera. Never try to rely on one camera, as usual. I have Minolta CLE (from 1980's)and more recent Konica Hexar RF still fine 20/40 years later.

andrew01 Posted January 14, 2022 Share #8 Posted January 14, 2022 Anything beyond M8 is digital, so perhaps it should be the M7.2?

Even if it costs USD/€10k ? Why not but I think not likely. It would be big and would hide a good portion of VF on 35/50 settings.
kivis Posted January 30, 2022 Share #11 Posted January 30, 2022 I have a Nikon FE from 1978. It has never failed me. Electronics have been spot on. Only problem it is not very quiet but then it's not a Leica.

I mean if we are talking wish list then it would be collapsible like the 90 macro A 35, 50 and 90 all in one lens that collapses and is a f2.8 for 10k… I think I’d save up.
