It was actually the M11D, the magic of the 35mm summilux pre-asph and then some tweaking in silver efex. I shoot in 60mp but I'm absolutely certain I could be using 18mp and it would make not the slightest bit of difference for 99% of the things I shoot, just going to 60mp for super detailed work where trying to do an impersonation of medium format. I'd more than likely forget though hence I leave as is. Currently I'm looking for feel rather than detail most of the time.

As on holiday I'm mostly shooting colour at the moment so as to have flexibility for holiday snaps and hence the M11M is only coming out in the evenings;-)

Oh right, read the caption, read the caption, stupid............I shoot my M11-D at 18mp all the time, I like the texture of the image more than the "cleaner" higher 36/60 choices, but that's just me. I was asking because I will have to get used to the newer Monochrom from tomorrow, ( my M10-M was one of the "bits" traded ), and I will have to experiment all over again to find the ASA/Mp slot that works for me..........but the tones on this shot of yours is about where I like my digital frames to sit.

** just to add, I too like the earlier Summilux 35' V2 on my M11-D, ( again at the lower 18mp ), there's a pleasing compliment there in that combination.

I can't wait to see what the 18mp looks like off the M11M, 60 has got to be ludicrous overkill to turn out images like the one I did. I'm aiming for Tri-X which probably has a mp equivalent of 18mp on a good day! I quite like the 'cropability' however although I rarely crop much at all.

18mp? Well it does start have some TriX characteristics, ok maybe with a little PP help but not much, it's mainly upping the contrast and even letting the highlights blow sometimes but it all depends on the shot itself and for sure the higher prevalence of grain helps no end ...........As I said, for the looks I am quite sold on the 18mp setting with the M11-D, and will try to find similar pathways when I start using the 11-Monochrom...........But then for my own stuff now it's quite obvious that exposure, definition, shutter speed and focus tend to get in the way of what works as a snap for me. As you said, and with me too, it's more so "looking for feel", and if you free yourself from trying too hard to nail the technicalities you might be surprised at where that can take you...........Or not.
