:D Speaking.."at" you from OSX and photoshop even auto levels lifts the image quite a bit. Actually it is quite good considering it is just a no brain engaged click:D.

You got some cool stuff fro the olden days Pete. Opps...Golden days

ps. Hey Auto levels, auto contrast, auto color correction all wind up pretty much in the same place. Ehh...I get XP corel back tomorrow look out for a fifth wheel and highlights and chrome sharpening:D .

These are great images of a great time. I am, as you may recall from prior positings, quite the kid for racing from the 60's and 70's. If you could indulge a request, please post more of your images of this vintage...daily!

Thanks for what you have already shared

Thanks for the comments re- my back catalogue. :)

Charlie, judging by the contact sheets these two were having a real battle for a a number of laps (I can't remember it and of course probably did not shoot them every lap), there were probably parts of Oulton where the Elan was in front, but there are several straights where it would have maxed out on a racing diff, allowing the extra 3.2 litres of the Cobra to get past! Nothing has changed. Today the 1558cc Elans are forced to race in the same class as the Cobras, GT40's, and other big bangers!

Andy,

The IIIc was possibly the most difficult of the daft cameras that I used for racing shots- home-made wire view-finder has to come a close second to waist-level screen on the Exa, where the image raced across the screen the wrong way!!! I would not mind one for shots where one has all day to compose, though. ;)
