bayerische Posted September 6, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 6, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Recieved one filter from Leica today. I was very suprised at first when there was only one filter inside the envelope, but the reciept told me they're out of the 43mm silver one. Well got my 46mm black for my most used lens, the 35mm Lux asph, so I'm pretty happy. Don't understand why these filters could only be used with coded lenses?! I tried mine on my uncoded 35mm Lux and it seems to do the job just fine!

Joe Mondello Posted September 6, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 6, 2007 I assume you mean IR filters! Don't understand why these filters could only be used with coded lenses?! I tried mine on my uncoded 35mm Lux and it seems to do the job just fine! Haven't received mine yet (just ordered them) but my understanding is that you will see cyan drift in the corners when using the IR filters and the coding compensates for this in camera. bayerische Posted September 6, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted September 6, 2007 When do you send for yours? I'm trying to get an idea of how long it takes. Thanks, DD I bought the camera on the 13th of august. I registered the same evening or the day after (august 14th) can't remember. But 3 weeks + it seems it took for mine. bayerische Posted September 7, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted September 7, 2007 So what do you guys think about using the Filters with the camera set to recognise the lens using uncoded lenses? I've done some experiments and it seems the camera is producing a bit of an all over cyan cast when not using the in camera software option. Software off, and no filter I see magenta cast. Software on, and filter on I'm thinking is the best. I have thought about coding the lenses, but right now, I don't want to be without lenses! I want to shoot! So can I code the lenses myself? marknorton Posted September 7, 2007 Share #10 Posted September 7, 2007 Yes, search for the stainless steel coding template shown here a few days ago. Then, forget the Sharpies and use an epoxy based ink which will wear much better.
Bill W Posted September 7, 2007 Share #11 Posted September 7, 2007 As reported by Guy in an earlier thread, Tony Rose at Popflash has 55 UV/IR filters in black in stock. I called and got one to complete my inventory. If you are looking for this one, better call. He has others also..........

That won't work; the camera needs to read out the code to activate the software. So the lens must be coded.
