Hi guys, so I have been shooting 3 days in a row with my M10-P, and I found this shutter issue once a day for the past 3 days.

So basically, I had Live View on, and when I pressed the shutter release, it couldn't go down all the way, like not a full stroke, but only halfway, and of course, the photo wasn't taken. It didn't occur at the start of the camera, nor in hibernation mode or burst shots.

Again, it only happened once a day, usually I would suspect it's the shutter that got damaged, but logically, wouldn't this issue be way more often and easy to reproduce if that is the case? Or could it be some systematic or cache bug, where the camera think it's not ready to fire the shutter? Or, just a broken SD card causing trouble? Has anyone experienced same issue? Any thoughts?

I have had that happen on my M10-R BP on a few occasions now (I don't use Live View so can't comment there). In all I think it was more likely due to the camera getting confused by a sequence of events vs a physical problem since a simple turn on and off the camera and the shutter then works just fine. Some M10's, esp BP's, have had physical issues with the shutter release, but I just don't think that's a problem with mine as it's been back to Leica already (for rf calibration), and otherwise the shutter release is one of the best feeling I've ever used.

So you have got your shutter release replaced, but it still happens?

This might also be caused by the so-called touchscreen issue; if you put your thumb (or other fingers) on the touchscreen after reviewing a picture, but before clearing the screen by pressing the release button, sometimes it happens that the  shutter does not fire. The touchscreen then seems to have entered a modal state  picture scrolling or zooming mode, and thus refuses to be "overridden" by the shutter button. The more of the right thumb on the touchscreen, the more often it happens.

This is IMHO a software defect and should be solved.

I didn't notice that before. So it's in the picture view mode or not?

Yes, I'm using one, but why is that a problem? I also use them on my M-P and M-E, they all seem to be fine.

It shouldn’t be a problem, but if never hurts to remove a variable in tracing a fault
