monTeur Posted December 11, 2021 Share #1 Posted December 11, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I bought a Leica M10 Monochrom recently and after some testing I noticed these strange vertical lines in some pictures. They appear everywhere in the picture as you can see in the example attached. I've never seen that before, is the sensor broken? This image is ISO160 and boosted 1.5 stops in Lightroom, so it does not come from extreme post processing. Thank you in advance, Sebastian Welcome, dear visitor! vinicio Posted December 11, 2021 Share #2 Posted December 11, 2021 (edited) I had these lines also on my M10m; it’s not a new but sometimes this happen. I fixed the issue resetting the camera and using a new fast speed SD card. No more lines since more than 8 month and over 15000 shots hope this helps Edited December 11, 2021 by vinicio
monTeur Posted December 11, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted December 11, 2021 Ok thank you, I try it with resetting the camera. I use SanDisk SDXC UHS II cards, so this might not be the problem and nevertheless it looks very strange to me, might be better to contact Leica technical support. pnwpotter Posted December 12, 2021 Share #4 Posted December 12, 2021 My M10M had these lines. My dealer took the camera back, shipped it to Leica USA, (with files supplied by me), and within a week I had a new camera shipped to me from Leica. I can only assume it is an issue they know about. fotografr Posted January 18, 2022 Share #5 Posted January 18, 2022 (edited) Any word from Leica about this yet? Edited January 18, 2022 by fotografr
jplomley Posted January 19, 2022 Share #6 Posted January 19, 2022 I also have these lines in addition to a line down the middle demonstrating differential exposure on the left and right hand side of the image. The camera is still under warranty and I will send it in at some point to have it looked at. I'm really surprised they replaced the entire camera and not just the sensor. Makes me very concerned as I have the Wetzlar edition which I'm not so sure is easily replaced.
monTeur Posted January 19, 2022 Author Share #7 Posted January 19, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) To clarify this: I sent an unprocessed DNG to Leica in Wetzlar, they checked it and said the sensor is broken. I sent in the camera and got a new one, that‘s it. It took about 5 days (I‘m located in germany)
jonnyboy Posted January 19, 2022 Share #8 Posted January 19, 2022 I had exactly the same lines on my M9M couple of years ago (but it appeared around ISO 1600) and I had to replace the sensor as well. Not covered by Leica, a painful bill to swallow... I would do as I did, take your camera to your dealer with a DNG file showing the lines, and have a conversation with them that they can send it off but that you want the Wetzler version if they decide to exchange. Your dealer should be able to check first if it's possible.
