So my fotodiox dumb adapter for the gfx 100s arrived today and I played around with my Leica S 180mm f3.5 on the gfx body.. the glass performed beautifully. Here are 3 images from the lot..

1 with gfx 100s and 180mm Leica S

1 with gfx 100s and gf 250mm f4

1 with Leica S007 and S 180mm

could you tell which one’s from which?

Of the remaining two, the biggest differences are colors, and that's a lot to do with the default Color Profile. Adobe does weird things to Fuji colors, so I'd think that @frame-it was right about the S(007) pic - mostly due to the weird purple vegetaion on the right. But different profiles could turn one pic into the other. OTOH, if these were processed in Capture One, I'd have no idea.

If I am not wrong the Leica S 180mm with the fotodiox adapter can only shoot at full aperture and cannot focus to infinity?

If it can’t focus to infinity, that’s just bad design. The flange distance is enormous on the S compared to the GFX. Aperture is probably fixed open unless you have a Leica S body around to do the turn it off while viewing DoF trick.

Yes, it’s just an extremely basic adapter which is not well made either.. mounting the lens to the adapter is super tight! No aperture adjustments and no focus to infinity..

You can remove the mount screw, (forget which side now) there are a few pieces of shims underneath. Remove them can help a little bit but not enough for wide angle to reach infinity.

Out of box, my 100,120,180 can reach infinity. With shims removed, my 70mm almost there. After doing modification, (send out to mechanical shop) all S lens can reach infinity.

Hmmm.. How's the IBIS with the S lenses? I had a lot of trouble with the Canon 24 TS-E on the GFX 100. The X-H1, OTOH, adapts IBIS to new lenses perfectly.

Works wonderfully actually. 180S can shoot much much better with GFX with stabilized VF and also sharp at low speed due to IBIS. I sold GFX100S though because it is no longer suit my setups. 100M is too much for me and I reach smaller camera more often if not S. I might get FUJI back in the future but don't want it idle on shelf.

odd.. I had trouble shooting the gfx100s with the leica s 180 mounted at 1/60s shutter speed without causing blur.. i tried with IS shooting only and continuous setting on the camera and neither quite resulted in a sharper image.. at 1/160 it got better..

you need to set the focal length in the Ibis menu for it to work properly.

I managed to handheld shot 110mm f/2 at 1/15 and get pretty good hit rate.
