Voigtländer Color Skopar 35/2.5: Screwmount version vs M-Mount version?

Ultimately I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the screwmount version of the lens.  So far I'm pleased with it.  I'm a lot more familiar with the typical screwmount ergonomics, but I wanted to make sure that there wasn't some sort of a big change one way or the other.

I understood that there was no significant difference so also bought the screwmount version which I often use with an adapter on my M body as well as my screwwmount bodies. Somewhere along the line though, there was an optical change which reduced magenta vignetting in color films.

For my screw mount Leica IIIa syn I like small M39 lenses, other lenses wouldn't even fit.
But if I only took photos with M cameras, M lenses would always be my first choice, as every adapter carries the risk of slight deviations from the best possible connection between lens and camera.
