Summilux-M 50 Pre-asph 11114 - lens cap?

I have recently bought this lens (serial no. from 1983, black). It came with a Leica cap for use without the hood: 14007, E43 - but I suspect it is not original. It is the variety that you pinch from the rim, is spring-loaded, and it clips inside the filter ring. Unfortunately the external diameter of the cap is a few mm wider than the diameter of the filter ring, and it frequently catches and is pulled off when getting it out of the bag.

It would be relatively simple to find a replacement that fits that lens ring diameter, but finding one that is not annoying in other, mismatched ways might be more difficult.

Can anyone offer guidance about what cap was intended for this lens? Or which ones work without falling off, or pulling off? I would be happy with an external push-fit cap, but really anything that only comes off when I want it to would be good!

Hello Paul.

As ex-user of the 11114 lens, I had difficulty to find original push-on cap 14123 as replacement.

I have Leitz Catalog from 1987, in page 5-16, I have answer, the cap 14123 was not available, it was replaced by the clip-on 14007.

 

Maybe, someone in China released copies of 14123.

I use a 45mm Kaiser push-on cap that works well, at least when used with a Hoya 43mm filter:

There were two dedicated caps for Summilux 50/1.4 v1 & v2 (E43): 14123 lens cap Arnaud's referring to above and 14037 hood cap when the hood is in reverse position. China made copies of the 14123 can be found easily on e**y but i have no experience with them.

Thanks everyone - exactly what this forum is good for!

If the dates are correct, it sounds like my 1983 lens may have shipped with a later cap.
I shall look for a 14123 or, failing that, the Kaiser version.

I bought a silver one. Quite well made. The inner lining is made from rubber foam and fits very tight. I end up replaced the foam with a liner made from velvet cloth and it fits well.
