merrillh Posted September 3, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted September 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just received my V-Lux-1 and have to say that I love it. Can anyone tell me if there are any tricks to help the jitter when taking pictures at dawn or dusk at a long FL. The instructions say that you should use a tri-pod, but I am wondering if there is any other way to help focus under these conditions. I have the IS set on Mode 2. Any FL longer that around 135mm the Jitter icon appears. Â Thanks for any input, Â Merrill

hsw Posted September 3, 2007 Share #2  Posted September 3, 2007 I've learned to never underestimate the value of a tripod/monopod. And I PRIDE myself on steady hands!! I read that the majority of unsharp shots are not due to poor focus but unappreciated camera shake.  Go to shutter priority mode and just keep dialing it higher until you get the freeze that you require; it can be done hand-held: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/nature-wildlife/24991-venus-moon.html  but a tripod makes it so much better!  Welcome to the club, Henry
sdommin Posted September 4, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted September 4, 2007 Any FL longer that around 135mm the Jitter icon appears. Â I don't know about the V-Lux, but on most cameras, when the jitter icon appears it just means that the camera is telling you that conditions are right for jitter (i.e. slow shutter speeds, long focal lengths, etc.). It does not mean you are going to get a blurry shot - you could have your camera on the sturdiest mount in the world and still get the jitter icon. hsw Posted September 4, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted September 4, 2007 That is exactly correct, I failed to mention that; the icon is just telling you that the image stabilization is actually working. Â H.
earleygallery Posted September 4, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted September 4, 2007 So, it's not a 'Jitterbug' ?
merrillh Posted September 4, 2007 Author Share #6 Â Posted September 4, 2007 Thanks for the help, I have been experimenting using the intelligent iso and the shutter priority dial. I now see what you mean about the jitter icon. I have taken pictures in low light at a FL of 420+ and they are not blurred and the iso increases to a higher setting. I have much more to learn about this camera, but having fun along the way. Â Thanks again, Merrill
