rpsawin Posted October 13, 2021 Share #1 Â Posted October 13, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently purchased a 75/2.5 Summarit-M and was surprised at the lack of lens hoods (#12460) available. For those of you in similar circumstances what, if any, substitutes do you use? Â Thanks in advance,
Advertisement Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 Hi rpsawin, Take a look here Alternative Lens Hood...?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
a.noctilux Posted October 13, 2021 Share #2 Â Posted October 13, 2021 Hello Bob, Congratulation on your choice of this very nice 75mm that I was surprise of it's good rendering. At first I wanted 2.4/75mm (for the 70cm MFD in place of 90cm of the 2.5/75), but the 2.4 never came as sh. The seller told me that hood for this Summarit-M 2.5/75 or 2.5/35/50 was an option, and the ex-owner never had the hood. Â Never mind, I do have some E46 screw-in hoods that fit nicely the 75mm. With time as I use colored filters and unscrew/screw-in the hood/filter was not so practical, I just use the lens without hood. So I suggest that you use this 75mm without hood at first then if need be find E46 noname screw-in hood (most lengths will do, no vignetting in my case with 1.5cm to 3.5cm long hoods).
rpsawin Posted October 13, 2021 Author Share #3 Â Posted October 13, 2021 Amaud, Thanks. I am very pleased with this lens and confess to an odd tic of mine. I just get a little nuts unless I have a proper lens hood. And I'm open to other solutions. Your input I appreciated.
Gobert Posted October 13, 2021 Share #4 Â Posted October 13, 2021 I use some rubber screw in hoods as alternative for the original ones.
wda Posted October 13, 2021 Share #5  Posted October 13, 2021 I have the lens and hood, which lives on the lens. I guess there are many hoodless lenses out there, because not all owners bothered to buy a hood. My advice is to get a substitute hood, preferably one recommended here. IQ will be slightly improved and the front element spared potential damage.
Ko.Fe. Posted October 13, 2021 Share #6 Â Posted October 13, 2021 Any hood matching filter size and for 50 mm lens you could find and like on eBay. I have bunch of MIC hoods from eBay and they are fine. It just free delivery which takes long time.
