Ironman Wisconsin

The annual Ironman Wisconsin started a couple of hours ago so I biked over to the starting point of the swim for a few shots. As you probably guessed, the men are wearing the green caps and the women have pink. After the 2.4 mile swim, competitors get their changing bags that contain clothes and helmets for the 112 mile bike portion. After the bike segment, they do a full 26.2 mile marathon. Then most of them limp back to their hotel rooms and pass out.

Triathlon! I have participated in a few of them, but as we had to write our age on our body, one day I decided, that was enough for me a! 😅

We spent 19 fantastic years in Madison, and the photos bring back so many wonderful memories.

I'm just surprised that, given the politics of the city, they haven't changed the name to Ironperson.

Probably because any change like that would involve 20 years of meetings, committees and public forums.
