It occupies a large section of lakefront property and when it was built people were concerned that it wouldn't be utilized by members of the community. On the contrary, it is the venue for numerous community activities from the indoor winter farmers market to rooftop concerts, dances and dinners and is considered the architectural gem of downtown Madison. From the rooftop there is a magnificent view of Lake Monona in one direction and the State Capitol building in the other. M10-R, 28mm Summaron Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Hi fotografr, Take a look here Wright Design. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted September 3, 2021 Share #2 Posted September 3, 2021 Quite lovely. We've visited several Wright buildings and are stunned at their beauty, but also surprised at how often some of the design trumps functionality.

My wife and I spent three days at the Wright designed Seth Petersen Cottage on Mirror Lake here in Wisconsin a few years ago. While the building and setting were stunning, it was definitely not a comfortable three days.

So many architectural photos do not contain people, they're more about the form than the function. These show the enjoyment people get from being immersed in human scaled surroundings. Wally Thank you, Wally. The best view of Monona Terrace (lower left) is from the air. It doesn't show the people using the facility, but it does show its location in relation to the downtown area and the full scale, as well as many of the beautiful design features. The strip of land it's built on was previously underutilized green space and there was a great deal of debate about leaving it that way or building this center. In my opinion, there's no question the right decision was made. Brent Welcome, dear visitor! The placement is clearly understandable now, Nice City! Wally
