Pieter575 Posted August 13, 2021 Share #1 Posted August 13, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello. I can't seem to solve my M to L adapter problem. Hoping anyone here can help. Video of glitch I get a glitch when I mount a Voigtlander lens. I am (sometimes) able to set a profile, but as soon as I take a shot it glitches and/or resets itself. I've tried resetting the CL and I do think this is maybe due to the 4.1 firmware update as the mount worked perfectly before then. Any suggestions? jaapv Posted August 13, 2021 Share #2 Posted August 13, 2021 Start by cleaning the contacts.
M.piras Posted August 13, 2021 Share #3 Posted August 13, 2021 It is the original M to L mount right? I agree with jaapv to start by deep cleaning the contact, voigtlss as nder lenses has no contact so may be some “dirty” on the lens make a shorts over the contact line of the adapter. Try also this: attach the lens to the adapter remove the adapter from the camera, poweron camera attach again the adapter (which now has the lens attached on). finger crossed 🤞
Pieter575 Posted August 13, 2021 Author Share #4 Posted August 13, 2021 Thanks for the responses. I have wiped things down with a microfiber cloth. Is there something else I can do to deep clean? I'll try your mounting process as well and report back. Thanks again.
M.piras Posted August 13, 2021 Share #5 Posted August 13, 2021 My suggestion is just to use a microfiber cloth (the one for sunglasses) without any detergent. Insist to clean and try to understand if something is in contact short
lct Posted August 14, 2021 Share #6 Posted August 14, 2021 Sounds like a conflict due to a faulty DIY coding. Did you paint something on the flange of the CV lens?
Pieter575 Posted August 14, 2021 Author Share #7 Posted August 14, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) That's what I was thinking today. The lens is close to new and I didn't try to DIY code it, but since the 6-bit Summicron seems to work flawlessly I feel it must be some imperfection on the CV. That is good thinking, but if the camera would be identifying the lens for this reason, it would show up on the first screen.
ramarren Posted August 14, 2021 Share #9 Posted August 14, 2021 I've sometimes mounted a non-Leica M-Mount lens and found that details on the lens' mounting flange that happen to be in the area of the lens code reader do similar odd things. Since I have more than enough lenses to use, I simply stopped using the lenses that had such problems as I couldn't think of a simple way to solve the problem with the M Adapter T (same as the M Adapter L, but mine is old enough that they hadn't renamed it yet). Of course, one 'simple' way is to buy an aftermarket lens mount adapter that does not have the lens code reader, and do without the lens profile interaction completely. Leica doesn't have profiles for non-Leica lenses anyway.. You'll need to use the four way controller for magnification assist, but it solves the glitch. Pieter575 Posted August 14, 2021 Author Share #10 Posted August 14, 2021 I think I've solved it. I kept going back to the idea that it was unsuccessfully trying to read something. Sure enough, I found an imperfection on the adapter reader. Welcome, dear visitor! At first I hoped it was a hair, but when I zoomed in with my phone it was pretty obviously a crack. It must be small enough that it can read a proper 6-bit code, but small enough that it glitches when trying to read a blank flange. Thank you for helping me keep going with solving this mystery.
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Driften Posted August 14, 2021 Share #11 Posted August 14, 2021 I wonder if you can get the reader fixed. It's an expensive adapter to stop using it for that reason...
Pieter575 Posted August 14, 2021 Author Share #12 Posted August 14, 2021 It's not inexpensive, but of the three parts (body, lens, adapter), it should be the least expensive to repair/replace.
jaapv Posted August 15, 2021 Share #13 Posted August 15, 2021 Is it insured? This is clearly from some external impact.
ramarren Posted August 16, 2021 Share #14 Posted August 16, 2021 I agree with Jaap ... looks like a ding, something hit it. Call Leica service and see if they'll repair it. G
