pickerdd Posted July 1, 2021 Share #1  Posted July 1, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm curious if anyone else has noticed irregularities and sporadic activity with capture/focus assistance. I have info bars on, clipping / zebra set to 253, focus peaking on and the level gauge on. The issue I'm having is that after 2 or 3 photos the focus peaking stops. If I switch to another capture assistance profile the focus peaking comes back on. Is it related to specific values when they are active? Sorry if I am not specific enough.. beewee Posted July 1, 2021 Share #2 Â Posted July 1, 2021 Are you using this in bright environments? What camera FW are you using?
pickerdd Posted July 1, 2021 Author Share #3  Posted July 1, 2021 Firmware is 2.0. Today it was bright but also in all other levels of brightness. I’ve experimented with various iso settings as well as g-stop and shutter speed and lately it seems to stay on about 2 shots then I have to reset the settings by changing the capture assistant profile.
beewee Posted July 2, 2021 Share #4  Posted July 2, 2021 If you haven’t already done so, you should make sure enhanced live view is disabled and try again since enhanced live view will cause focus peaking to become disabled.
pickerdd Posted July 2, 2021 Author Share #5  Posted July 2, 2021 Enhanced live view? I checked and don’t see it in the menu settings. Where it is located?

pickerdd Posted July 5, 2021 Author Share #8 Â Posted July 5, 2021 looks like I might have identified the issue. when I have auto review on and the level gauge on and saved in a profile the focus peaking stops after 2 shots. When I turn off auto review the focus peaking works correctly. I reset the camera and started from scratch to attempt to identify the root cause and this seems to be it. Where do i report software bugs to Leica? Â

Andreas no, it did not. The fix was removing auto review when the level gauge is turned on in the profile.  I reset the camera to narrow down the possibilities and have a clean testing base. 40+ years in QA...

I'm using 3 second review (although it also happens with 1, 3 and 5 seconds) the last step is to press the joystick to get magnification. I have the front, top rocker switch also set to magnification and when I press it when the photo is in auto preview the screen goes crazy, but the focus assist keeps working in the next shot. lol Computers in all sizes and configurations are so much fun... even ones with lenses... pickerdd Posted July 16, 2021 Author Share #13  Posted July 16, 2021 I spoke with a Leica USA rep (John K.) about this issue and we worked out the specifics and he was able to duplicate all of my findings. He will report the issues to Leica Germany and  I will report back when the response on whether it is a known issue or a new one. Mostly relieved it is not specific to my individual camera.
