brian mclean Posted August 13, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 13, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wow! I am new to you all and have a lot to live up to! My trusty 4.3 (about 7years old)has been well used and will shortly be sold so a Digilux 2 can be bought... only if someone agrees that this would be a good move.. I will post some pictures soon to help you decide..

mikej Posted August 13, 2006 Share #3 Posted August 13, 2006 I've had both, and the digilux 2 is like graduating to photography. You have to think and learn, and it helps you to take better pictures. Do it! Cheers, Mike
jmr Posted August 14, 2006 Share #4 Posted August 14, 2006 Brian, the pictures taken with the Digilux 2 are sharper and brighter than the 4.3, which was a good little camera in its own right. The D2 takes you back to a more involving photographic time and rewards that involvement amply.
dugby Posted August 14, 2006 Share #5 Posted August 14, 2006 My Fuji Finepix 6800ZX which was the replacement to the Finepix 4800ZX (aka Digilux4.3) is now used as our webcam. The photos from my D2 as compared with the 6800ZX is like comparing my old Olympus OM4 to a Kodak instamatic. Don't even bother trying to compare the two............. dugby Posted August 15, 2006 Share #7 Posted August 15, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Fuji rebrand... yuck! I would should be thankful to Leica's rebranding of the Fuji. That single action 6-7 years ago, to test the world-wide consumer's reaction to a Leica branded digicam was probably the single most important thing for Leica being alive today. Without the new breed of 'bread-n-butter' Leica consumers, Leica would not have survived on film-cams (M & R) and optics alone.
jackart Posted August 15, 2006 Share #8 Posted August 15, 2006 Currently Leica is going to rebrand Panasonic Lumix more and more.... -Jaak
brian mclean Posted August 16, 2006 Author Share #9 Posted August 16, 2006 It WILL be a D2 then... opportunity to buy from photographer friend at £500. He only uses it as a back up, and only has done this 4-5 times... so thanks all, the road to Eldorado has begun,(again!) plus as mentioned by mikej I will need to think and learn, a camera that goes towards acheiving this is like being reborn to the finer things in life. I did have a M6 TTL but sold that towards a deposit for a house.. never again! Regards to you all that replied. Brian
wda Posted August 16, 2006 Share #10 Posted August 16, 2006 Glad you have decided on the D2. Despite future developments, the D2 should continue to give you great pleasure and meet your photographic demands. (I have just posted one of my latest D2 pix (Blackberries) on the Nature and Wildlife Forum. This picture shows how good it is in close up mode.) And don't part with your 4.3; it can continue to serve your more pocket size requirements when you are not going out to take real pictures.
