Geoff B Posted June 17, 2021 Share #1 Posted June 17, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just received my new Q2 and can't figure out page 47 of the manual. it appears to show that when the thumbwheel is set to automatic (the factory setting) the following should happen when the wheel is turned: P mode should show program shift which mine does. A mode should show shutter speed, mine functions Exposure compensation S mode should show Exposure compensation, mine shows program shift. Did this change as a result of a firmware update (mine is 3.1), or is the manual incorrect. Can anybody help please. Thanks.

Thanks. it's been so long since i've set mine up i've forgotten. but i believe you can customize the behavior in the menu under customize i believe. same section where you set the button and fn behaviors. i have my wheel set to do exp-comp. it's /menu/customize control/wheel settings. /guy
M11 for me Posted June 17, 2021 Share #3 Posted June 17, 2021 Indeed, that is how it works. I dislike that behavior a lot as I would whish that I could better customize that funktion for the different Auto modes (P, A or T and all of these with Auto-ISO or ISO set to a value) or for manual mode. What I would need is the following: The wheel should do exposure compensation when in P or in A mode when ISO is Auto or when ISO is set to a value. In S the wheel should render the ⅓ steps of LV. In order to get that I have to go to change settings. There should just be more options instead of only "none", "Auto" or "Exposure comp". Actually this could be done with a firmware update. M11 for me Posted June 17, 2021 Share #6 Posted June 17, 2021 vor 23 Minuten schrieb AlexKirk: Such behavior would be illogical, because camera does not know what “your compensation” means with Auto ISO…:) Well that is not the case. As in P the camera follows an internal logic on how to expose resp. how to set A, T and ISO. If one does not like that logic there is the half automatic or even M mode. As I come from M10 I am most time in manual mode. May I ask you to rethink that: My point is actually that the 3 setting for the wheel (none, Automatic and Exposure comp) are not covering the needs. To be mire precise: My needs I can cover by changing the settings depending on the mode I am in. And I do not like the pairing (the 2 different funktions that are offered when set to wheel-Auto) that the firmware gives me. I need different pairing and the firmware should be flexible enough to provide that. Leica might say that things have to be simple. But too simple is not enough. I hope that @Geoff B is not boared with that discussion. But I hope that you got the answer to your initial question.
Geoff B Posted June 18, 2021 Author Share #7 Posted June 18, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you for all your answers. I really like P mode and the program shift function that offers by turning the wheel. Now set up the camera by calling up the ISO function on the wheels centre button, and Exposure comp on the Fn button. Happy with that set up.
