@bcapphoto the best thing to do if you find one and the price is right for you is not to let it go.

I don' know for other M-D users, I'd not sell mine, as I did say often.

Not many made, not many sold, so scarse second hand, the price wouldn't drop like other digital M.

I overpaid mine, sh some years ago, after M10 (!) and I do think that was good decision, even when M10-D came years later.

😉

Very interesting! I’m debating between it and the M10. I have a 240 and 246 I’d be selling to consolidate and fund. Talk to me about your experience with the MD vs the 10!

Long story = short (why M-D/M10 ? ).

They are different for different use, as I use some Leica M depending on my " ⁉️ " (I can not explain), we can say whim.

For example, today, I don't know (now) which one(s) will be used ( same for a lens ), nice to have choices but not following kind of logics.

We are lucky to have such choices offered by Leica (Leitz before that for me since so long !), so I'm not someone to follow in gear choices 🤥.

Follow your own path, take other's opinions with a pinch of salt.

There aren't many for sale or recently sold to be able to gauge off of. Anyone know? What are they going for?

Here's the link to one which is currently for sale in London as mentioned in the link in Arnaud's post above (I have no connection to the dealership);

It's not an M-D 262, but I was recently offered $5000 USD trade in credit for my M-P 240 Safari set that is in 9 to 9+ condition with all original boxes, accessories, manual and paperwork; this offer came from a well known U.S. based Leica Store that shall remain nameless.

(I decided against trading) 😎

I already nabbed the one at mwclassic.com ... I had been looking since January and found 4 for sale in Germany (eg at fotogoerlitz and other specialist dealers)  during that time in the 4500-5000 euro range. Brexit and 20% VAT on top and customs delays put me off those but all of them a no longer for sale, so presumed sold. Several of those dealers no longer appear on UK ebay presumably because of the import complexities but you can hunt on ebay.de or the dealer websites.

Considering they were £4650 new when they came out in 2016, M-D's seem to be holding their value rather well.

When I realised it was the only camera I wanted I just shut my eyes to the price ... 🙂

The Roberts page only has standard photos and no stock, and looks like a 'new' price. Perhaps they have not updated their listing as being a discontinued product. It happens.

The Diamonds listing is similar and note that it is in Australian dollars, not USD ...

I personally wouldn't use either of these data points in setting a market price for a secondhand M-D.

@plaidshirts Wow that fredmiranda site is amazing. I trawled it for M-D sales and found these. USA prices are a good deal compared with Europe, which reflects Leica pricing and high European taxation of course.

Congratulations!

I do like MW; they usually have some great - and often unusual - stuff in stock and their prices are very reasonable.

FYI price-watchers .... I bought one for EUR4000 a few months ago.  Minty with the finest couple of pin spots of brassing on a corner. I thought that was a great deal at the time as it was significantly cheaper than anything else I'd seen around.  The prices on Fred Miranda are indeed sharper - Interesting that they are only changing hands 2 or 3 times a year there though !

All points to the fact that these cameras are keepers, for sure :D

When I purchased mine there was an M10D available here in Australia however it sold at USD2000 more than I paid for the 262. . I'd already made my mind up that the Typ 262 was (IMO) the better choice and I absolutely love mine.  I felt that the little 'wifi' symbol being on a camera of this nature would bug me on the 10D, as I'm sure most in this corner of the forum might agree ;)

And congrats, @Datsch
