In all the tests seen mono vs color converted nobody ever sees the difference
I had DNG of the 2 M mono, same images taken with a M10 or M240
The color is always better than the mono version because of the flexibility of conversion

Based on physics and optical science. Bayer filter and interpolation gives a 30-40% resolution loss - a monochrom sensor lacks those. A Bayer filter introduces light loss thus produces noise, introduces aberrations like diffraction and refraction, leading to acuity loss. The sum result is a 18 MP sensor behaving and resolving like a 24-30 MP sensor. And it shows. If some "tests" don't see a subjective difference tells me nothing - they should take their blinkers off

As for tonality: If you apply a yellow filter in your colour conversion, you must use a yellow filter on on the lens of your monochrom. Processing a Monochrom image is quite different from processing a colour image anyway.

with a few friend we have done some tests ... same results for everyone , a mono sensor has no interest at all

that you like it or prefer it is another subject

Facts contradict you. But I am happy for you that you agree with your friends. I won’t let you get away with a reversal of logic. If you want to challenge established facts you must offer real  proof. Some anonymous friends and unidentified  Blogs masquerading as reviews won’t do.

Just a bit of proof. This is the Monochrom 1. No conversion could have created this tonality, nor could a 18MP Bayer sensor create this acuity and detail. Detail - this is at a deliberate  ISO 10.000 to give a bit of grainy structure.

I have one friend who would be interested in a monochrome digital camera since he is only taking B&W photos. But none of the current Leica monochrome cameras is in a price range he can bear with. This said, I know several photographers who have a sensor-modified digital camera for B&W infrared photography. But prices for an IR conversion have come down significantly in recent years, and most use older digital cameras they already own to do this conversion because they have a newer digital camera for color photography. I believe that several would buy a monochrome camera for a much lower price than they currently go for in the Leica Q or M series. I include myself in this bracket. Much cheaper and as efficient for me to continue using B&W films when I focus on some monochrome stuff (I don't need high ISO where I see the Leica monochrome cameras really having the edge over film).

CL Monochrom or CL2 Monochrom will be a great idea. The best way to have a dedicated B&W camera without breaking the bank or sticking with a 28mm lens forever : Q2 Monochrom. 
 

Please do it. I will buy it for sure. It will be a no brainer for most Leica users.

I'd love a CL mono - I am looking for a monochrome camera to complement my Q2 colour, and the interchangeable excellent lenses already out there from Leica and the L-mount providers would make a very compelling proposition at prices that are approachable. I'd buy one in a heartbeat and shoot the heck out of it.
