Partly due to the High Line Park causing the west side of Manhattan, from 14th street to 34th Street to rebuild, often with great imagination, the former rail yard (Hudson Yards) has been completely reinvented.  One of the buildings has a large platform 340 meters above the street where one can get great views.  This young Eastern European woman was posting on glass over the street.  The rest of the platform is vast and surrounded by high glass barriers at the edge - The location is called "The Edge."  If you go choose a clear day, between 8:00 and 9:00 AM, during the week.  Make the reservation online.  We were near there at 8:15 and decided to go.  We made the reservations, and we were atop the platform a few minutes later.  Weekends and later in the day or evening are crowded, and reservations less available.  We'll return on a clear, crisp day.

Thank you.  This was one of the least narcissistic moments we saw on The Edge, in spite of her friend taking at least two dozen poses.  We saw others posing in prime viewing locations for quite some time so that their companions can snap away from inside the building as the subject posed facing the building..
